Help with mail error -- Error Value: (111, 'Connection refused')

After switching machines around due to a crash/recovery. I find that I'm getting an error when I try to use methods which utilize the Mailhost object. I get "Error Value: (111, 'Connection refused')" I don't understand what could have caused this change, except for changing IP addresses. Any thoughts? I'm running on RH 7.3, Zope 2.5.1, Python 2.1.3. Does Mailhost need to use sendmail? Many thanks, Dan

you can make sure your host is able to connect to the remote host using telnet on port 25. You will need to be on the Zope server and try and telnet on port 25 on the remote server. type: telnet yourmailhost 25 If it responds with something like: 220 mplsfw1.rottlundhomes.com ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.8/8.12.8; Fri, 9 Jul 2004 17:4 6:55 -0500 you know that at a minimum you can communicate to the mail host from your zope host. Apache, Rewrite rules and MS ISA server

Hi Guys, I have an Apache rewrite configuration issue which I could do with some pointers on. Scenario: - Zope is on a Windows box, running multiple sites - an Intranet and an Extranet, and some other stuff. On the LAN these are at http://www.intranet.domain.com and http://www.extranet.domain.com, and Apache (IBM, 1.3) is in front of Zope and using rewrite rules perfectly happily. Current rewrite rule is of the pattern: - NameVirtualHost * <VirtualHost *> ServerName www.example.com RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.example.com:80/example/Virtu… [L,P] </VirtualHost> Problem: - We now need to serve the Extranet pages through MS ISA server, which will forward an incoming HTTPS request on https://public.extranet.domain.com to Apache over HTTP - IOW, the inbound link is SSL, the LAN hop to the server is not. If I simply point it at the server at http://www.extranet.domain.com, pages are served, *BUT* both the host name and the protocol in the served pages are in the "internal" form, e.g. with the private host name and no encryption. It seems to me that what I need here is two rewrite rules - one to rewrite /inbound/ requests to serve the pages, another to rewrite outbound requests to modify the absolute URLs in them to use HTTPS and the "public" host name. Needless to say, I'd like to avoid using SSL on the LAN if possible, or spoofing name resolution... If I was just working with Apache, this would be easy - but the additional step of MS ISA server forwarding requests from the public to the private URL, and from SSL to non-SSL, is making my head spin! All pointers gratefully received. using python ftplib with zope

I am having problems using ftp to down load objects from zope using python ftplib module. I appear to get authorized ok but then keep getting the message 530 Unauthorized when any ftp command is used. I can login as the same user using interactive ftp and download the same object. Zope vs. Typo3 dillema

Hello everyone, I have a small problem deciding wich product to use for my web site, Zope or Typo3. I don't have too much time testing and concurrently running both Zope and Typo3, so I think the best thing is to ask here :). Now, here are the key features my web must have: - LaTeX support: that is, users can edit documents using LaTeX notation, and by using some kind of latex2html I want to be able to have mathematical formulas displayed in web pages - users & groups: something most modern OS-es have (let's say Unix :)). I want to be able to set permissions and control wich users can edit, view, print any arbitrary document. - PDF export: since most of the web site will be mathematical, I want to be able to export parts of the web as PDF documents, so pepole can download that, in stead of reading the web online. - content reusing: this is a tough one to explain :), but I'll try. I want all the data (mathematical theories, theorems, problems and so on) to be in, let's call it one central repository. Then, when I want to create a part of the web about linear algebra, i can use the data from that 'central' repository. There are some other features that come to mind, but these are the most vital ones. Now, is that doable, and how hard is to implement that in Zope (or is there somewhere product that allready has that implemented)? And those having expirience both with Zope and Typo3, which should I use to get my web up and running as quickly as possible? Thanks in advance, Karlo Lozovina

confused on permissions and roles

I have a class that inherits from RoleManager (via Folder). It defined additional roles, including 'Administrator'. I would like the Administrator to be able to view management screens and create objects of certain types, but not be able to delete or rename objects of certain types. I tried using a ClassSecurityInfo instance as follows (I've removed the copy/delete objects part for simplicity and am just focusing on the view management screens part) class Myfolder(Folder): """ The base folder for the product """ meta_type="Myfolder" __ac_roles__=('Manager', 'Administrator', 'Researcher', 'Reviewer') security = ClassSecurityInfo() security.declareObjectProtected() security.declareProtected('View management screens', 'manage') # ..snip my methods ... security.setPermissionDefault('View management screens',('Manager', 'Administrator')) But a user with just an Administrator role could not view the myfolder/manage screen I also tried using __ac__permissions__ class Myfolder(Folder): """ The base folder for the product """ meta_type="Myfolder" __ac_roles__=('Manager', 'Administrator', 'Researcher', 'Reviewer') __ac_permissions__= ( ('View management screens', ('manage','manage_main'), ('Manager', 'Administrator'), ), ) with the same result. In both cases if I visit the Security tab of that folder (as a Manager) none of the default check boxes for the various roles and permissions have been altered; ie, the one for "View Management Screens" still has "Acquire Permissions Settings" checked. My specific question is, what am I doing wrong? My more general question is what is the interplay between using ClassSecurityInfo and __ac__permissions__? Zope Development: Taking the Next Step

I've been using Zope for about a year or so. In this time, I've become thoroughly comfortable with user-level development -- I've done decently interesting python scripts, page templates, etc. I've come to really understand, however, that when it comes to the next level of Zope development, I'm not really sure where to start. Having had to take a look at some Products recently and tweak them, I find that while I can tweak things sometime, I'm certainly ages away from, say, being able to create my own Product or understanding even how they work. Is there some sort of decent way to start delving into this that doesn't involve "just read some Products and figure out what they're doing"? -roy
