Turning off xmlrpc handling
by John Ziniti 25 Jun '04

25 Jun '04

ZPublisher seems to assume that if the Content-type on an HTTP POST is "text/xml", then the request contains an xmlrpc call. I would like to POST an XML document and handle it myself in an External Method (via REQUEST.BODY), but ZPublisher exits with an error when it tries to parse the XML message looking for a proper rpc call. Can anyone think of an elegant way to tell Zope *not* to do this? 1. I would prefer not to hack Zope. 2. I cannot change the Content-type on the client 3. I apparently cannot use apache mod_rewrite to rewrite headers. Thanks in advance, John Ziniti

problem with uploading through WebDAV
by Mark Meredith 25 Jun '04

25 Jun '04

Hello, I've been a Zope user for awhile, but this is my first mailing list posting. Please let me know if there is a more appropriate forum for my question. We have an Product that subclasses ParsedXML and PortalFolder. When something is uploaded using WebDAV within an instance of the class, the XML source of the document is supposed to be updated to reflect the objects contents as a folder. The problem we are having is that sometimes the upload takes place with a no effect. The log Z2.log file shows the WebDAV PUT request with an HTTP Status code of 204, which ought to indicate success. No exceptions are in the error_log. It seems as if the transaction is aborted somehow, as though there was a ConflictError, but no ConflictError messages appear in Zope's console output. I am very puzzled; there are no exceptions in the error log but the object is not being saved. Is anyone familiar with a situation like this? Mark Meredith

Calling ReST from DTML
by John Maxwell 25 Jun '04

25 Jun '04

Pardon if this is an old q... the search engine claims to have never heard of restructured text. I have a restructured-text document (in Zope 2.7). It renders perfectly. I want to embed it in a DTML page, so I call it like so: <dtml-var restcontent ftm="restructured-text"> Works great, and it renders fine. BUT: where the ReST renderer converts literal straight quotes " to &quot entities, when I bring it in via DTML, the entity gets converted again, so I see &quot literally on my page. There must be some way of preventing this, short of re-writing the renderer. Anybody have any experience with this? My complaint isn't with ReST, but with how DTML filtes ReST. - John Maxwell jmax(a)sfu.ca

Active Zope threads and connection cache size
by Dennis Allison 25 Jun '04

25 Jun '04

Does the size of the connection cache need to grow when Zope runs more threads. I currently am running 8 threads (default 4). I note that the current OODB connection cache size is FIXED at 7. Do I need to increase the size? I would have guessed the connection cache should be somewhat larger than the number of threads and that it should be set dynamically. Can anyone hazard a guess as to what it should be? twice the number of threads? more? I am running Zope 2.6.3b2 but I think the same question is relevant for all versions of Zope.

Confidential

Dear Friend, I know you will be surprised to read from me, but please consider this letter as a request from a family in dire need for your assistance. Firstly, I must introduce myself, I am PRINCE IBRAHIM DUNGA from Zimbabwe, and I am the first and the only son of MR DANIEL DUNGA. I am presently residing in SOUTH AFRICA. I got your contact from the SOUTH AFRICA INFORMATION EXCHANGE (S.A.I.E) in Johannesburg and on behalf of my mother who is a widow MRS ANGELA DUNGA. I decided to solicit for your assistance to transfer the sum of US$ 18.5M (Eighteen Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) in your personal or company account. Before my fathers death, he was among the few black Zimbabweans rich farmers, and, he was poisoned by the agents of the ruling government of president ROBERT MUGABE for his alleged support and sympathy for Zimbabwean opposition party controlled by white minority. Before his death, he had taken me to Johannesburg to deposit his money to a Security and Finance Company. This money was deposited as a gemstone to avoid much demurrage from the Security Company. This money was earmarked for purchase of new machinery and chemicals for the farms and to establish new farms in Lesotho and Swaziland. In this will, he specifically drew my attention to this sum of US$18.5M (Eighteen Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) that he deposited in safe box of a private Security and Finance Company here in Johannesburg, South Africa. INFACT MY FATHER SAID IN HIS WILL AND QUOTE: My beloved son, I wish to draw your attention to this money which I deposited in your name in a box with a Security and Finance Company in Johannesburg, South Africa. In case of my absence on earth caused by death, you should solicit for a reliable foreign partner to transfer this money out of South Africa for investment purposes. >From the above, you will understand that life and future of my family depends on this money, as much I will be very grateful if you can assist us. We are now living in South Africa as asylum seekers and financial laws of South Africa does not allow asylum seekers certain right to such huge amount of money. In view of this, I can not invest this money in South Africa hence am asking you to assist me to transfer this money out of South Africa for investment purposes. For your effort, I am prepared to offer you 25% of the total fund. While 5% will be set my family and I will keep aside for local and international expenses and 70%. Finally modalities on how the transfer will be done will be conveyed to once we establish trust and confidence between ourselves. Looking forward to your reply including your full name, and your full direct phone & fax numbers, and please treat as very urgent. Best Regards, PRINCE IBRAHIM DUNGA.
