I believe bytecode conversion is carried out for a module only when it is accessed for the first time. Can someone confirm this? Submit Button

Does anyone know if there is a way to have a button with a label that differs from the value of the button. I am using several buttons in a form that have the same name since they call the same DTML method. I would like to give these buttons the same label without giving them the same value. If the values are all the same, there is no way for me to detect which button was clicked. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Broken Zope 2.7.1 file permissions

I installed 2.7.1 from source on Linux using the default settings (i.e., install to /opt/Zope-2.7) but it would not start when I changed the effective user (as I had to since I'm running it directly on port 80) since many of the files (e.g., in lib/python/App/dtml) are readable only by the owner which is root. This is a change from 2.7.0 where the same files are readable by group and world. In the meantime a workaround is to manually change the file permissions to be world/group readable or to install Zope under the same account as the effective user, but these file permissions should be fixed in the official release since Zope won't even start up given the common scenario of setting the effective user w/ the default install. Hi Stuart. We are running Zope 2.5.1 and 2.6. In 2.7 setting the variable is pretty obvious, now that I know to look for it. Can the same variable be set in pre2.7, in the z2.py config file? returning a dynamically created zip file

I have a class in a zope file that returns a zip file. The zip file is created dynamically. Currently, I save this zip file to a zope folder and return it's URL. I was wondering if there was a way to avoid saving it to the zope file system. Here is what I have def all_zipped(self, REQUEST=None, *args, **kwargs): """ Get all the documents from the doc template folder as a zip """ docFolder = self.get_docfolder() tmpfile = TemporaryFile() # stringio bombed zip = zipfile.ZipFile(tmpfile, 'w') #snip write the zip file zip.close() id = 'docs.zip' if id in docFolder.objectIds(): docFolder._delObject(id) tmpfile.seek(0) docFolder._setObject(id, File(id, id, tmpfile.read(), 'application/zip', precondition='')) fileo = docFolder._getOb(id) REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(fileo.absolute_url()) I tried tmpfile.seek(0) return File(id, id, tmpfile.read(), 'application/zip', precondition='') and this did launch the file save dialog in my browser, but the content type wasn't set correctly. What is the best way to do this? Also, I feel like I must be doing something wrong calling all these leading underscore methods of my folders (_delObject, _setObect, _getObject). Restricting Posts to Subscribers

A similar discussion is taking place on zope-dev and I'd like to bring that here as well. I'd like to propose that we change the Mailman policy for this list to restrict posting to subscribers only. I'm sure others will agree and others will not. Some of the recent issues I've seen are: A) I can't stop some logical extensions (.zip) which are now containing virus' from getting to the list without causing problems for those who are possibly attaching valid attachments B) We can't stop all spam - we're using 3 rbl lists to stop as much as we can; that is not good enough IMNSHO C) We can stop outside mailers from replying to the list illogically My vote is for refusing posts from non-subscriber emails. Session Timeout Changes on it own?

Hi. I am using Zope 2.6.0,Redhat Linux 8. Yesterday, I set my Transient Object Container "Data object timeout value in minutes" to a value of 120 and clicked change. The new increased value appeared to take. This morning, the timeout value had revereted to 20. I am not aware of doing anything to make this happen. Does anyone have an explanation from this unexplained behavior in the sessioning mechanism. (111) Connection refused question

Hi All, I do apologize if this has been asked before, but I searched and couldn't find anything. Google didn't yield much info either. I'm new to Zope administration and ours gave this error (from apache's log): [Fri Jun 25 10:25:21 2004] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] (111) Connection refused: proxy connect to 127.0.0.1 port 8080 failed The error indicates zope would not accept new connection and restarting zope did fix the issue. I peeked at the logs, and there was no indication of what the problem could have been. Does anyone has any experience on this issue?
