Cookie and Basic authentication
by Ulrich Wisser 09 Jun '04

09 Jun '04

Hi, my web application uses cookie based authentication. Which works very well with CookieCrumbler. Now I have been asked to implement some XML-RPC functions, which should use the same login information but use Basic Authentication. Any idea how to do that? Thanks Ulrich

RE: [Zope] Zope Book: WYSIWYG Tools for Page Templates?

Does anybody use them? Does it work? AFAICT at least the current Mozilla Composer 1.7 / Nvu 0.20 and Amaya 8.5 in WYSIWYG mode remove TAL and METAL attributes. Hmm, I just tried it with my copy of Moz 1.7a, and the TAL attributes were left in place. I copied the template to a separate file and saved that (to the files system), I haven't tried to save directly back to Zope. There is also the new NVU editor by the Lindows people. It is open source, and is built using the Mozilla Composer code base. It is still a beta, but looks pretty good, although I have not tried it for page templates so far. It can use ftp to talk to your server. I'd check it out, see if it works OK with Zope. http://www.nvu.com/index.html Cheers, Tom P

ZPT arbitrarily inserting white-space
by Steve Jibson 09 Jun '04

09 Jun '04

So, I've decided to make the switch from DTML to ZPT and the changeover has gone fairly well. I am running into a little snag though. It appears that ZPT arbitrarily inserts newlines and white space into the rendered html. I've managed to condense my problem down to a simple example: ZPT #1 (this is all one line--if not, it got mangled by email): <span tal:repeat="item python:['one', 'two', 'three', 'four']" tal:replace="item">ITEM GOES HERE</span> ZPT #2 (this is two lines--if not, it got mangled by email): <span></span> <span tal:repeat="item python:['one', 'two', 'three', 'four']" tal:replace="item">ITEM GOES HERE</span> When I display these in my browser, the fist gives me "onetwothreefour", just as I would have expected. The second gives me "one two three four" and if I view the html, there is a newline after each of the "one", "two", "three" and "four" that really shouldn't be there. The tal:repeat statements haven't changed from #1 to #2, the only difference is the addition of the first "<span></span>" line. I have also seen ZPT change something like this: <span class="someclass" style="color:red">X</span> to something like this: <span class="someclass" style="color:red">X</span> Is there a way to tell ZPT not to mess with my white space? Thanks, Steve P.S. Zope 2.7.0, python 2.3.3, linux

Accelerated HTTP Cache Manager doesn't use SiteRoot?
by David Chandek-Stark 09 Jun '04

09 Jun '04

I'm a Squid newbie, but at least seem to have it working with my Zope site. However, I have a CMF site that is being served as the virtual root of the site (via Apache Rewrite/Virtual Host Monster), so there's a SiteRoot object in the root of the CMF site. The Cache Manager is also in the root of the CMF site, and is set to notify the Squid URL of purges, but the purge requests are relative to the root of Zope, not SiteRootPATH, so don't match the Squid cache URLs. Any help appreciated. -- David Chandek-Stark Web Applications Developer Duke University - Perkins Library (919) 660-5859 dc(a)duke.edu

Zope Book: WYSIWYG Tools for Page Templates?
by yuppie 09 Jun '04

09 Jun '04

Hi! The ZPT chapter of the Zope Book <http://zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/ZPT.stx> names Netscape Composer and Amaya as WYSIWYG tools for Page Templates. Does anybody use them? Does it work? AFAICT at least the current Mozilla Composer 1.7 / Nvu 0.20 and Amaya 8.5 in WYSIWYG mode remove TAL and METAL attributes. I'm currently working on the 2.7 edition of that chapter. If nobody can give me a hint how to use Composer or Amaya, I'll remove their names. OpenOffice 1.1 also deletes unknown attributes. Are there any other open source WYSIWYG tools that can be used for Page Templates? Or just Dreamweaver and GoLive? Cheers, Yuppie

list zope catalog queries starting at item #3
by Sean Kelley 09 Jun '04

How does one display a catalog query starting at item 3 instead of item 0 (or 1) ? Can you set a variable for the starting point?  <div metal:define-macro="newsSlot" tal:define="results python:request.get('news', here.portal_catalog.searchResults( meta_type='News Item' , Subject='Scoop General Updates' , sort_on='Date' , sort_order='reverse' , review_state='published'));" tal:condition="python:test(template.getId()!='news' and results, 1, 0)"> <div class="box"> <h5 i18n:translate="box_news">All General Updates</h5> <div class="body"> <tal:block tal:repeat="obj results"> <div tal:define="oddrow repeat/obj/odd" tal:attributes="class python:test(oddrow, 'content even', 'content odd')"> <a href="" tal:attributes="href obj/getURL"> <img tal:replace="structure here/newsitem_icon.gif" /> <span tal:replace="python:test(obj.Title, obj.Title, obj.id)"> Extended Calendar Product </span> </a> <div tal:replace="python:here.toPortalTime(obj.modified)">July 7, 08:11</div> <br> <font size="-1"> <i tal:content="structure python:test(obj.Description, obj.Description, '(No Description)')"> Description </i></font> </div> </tal:block> </div> </div> </div>

more workflow products ?
by Uwe Chalupka 09 Jun '04

09 Jun '04

Hi There ! Does anybody know some more workflow products than DCWorkflow of CMF, OpenFlow or OOPServer ? They are not really appropriate to my intentions. I'm searching something working near to the base of Zope, sufficient for a really simple Workflow (with only one or two controlling instances for example). I don't only want to handle content, but also handle object changes in the ZODB within the workflow, that's my problem. I am thankful for every further product tipp told to me. Uwe

Kupu Configuration - LibraryDrawer d'ont work
by Harald Winkelmann 09 Jun '04

Hi all, I installed and configured kupu-1.1beta2 on zope 2.6.1 on suse linux. Everything works fine without the Image and Linklibrary Popup. With Mozilla I get the following error: Error: [Exception... "'No Stylesheet Document was provided. (original exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004003 (NS_ERROR_INVALID_POINTER) [nsIXSLTProcessor.importStylesheet]" nsresult: "0x80004003 (NS_ERROR_INVALID_POINTER)" location: "JS frame :: anonymous :: line 268" data: no])' when calling method: [nsIOnReadystatechangeHandler::handleEvent]" nsresult: "0x8057001e (NS_ERROR_XPC_JS_THREW_STRING)" location: "<unknown>" data: no] Perhaps its a configuration problem. I'm using the zopemacros template with the following xml configuration: <xml id="kupuconfig"> <kupuconfig> <dst>fulldoc.html</dst> <use_css>1</use_css> <reload_after_save>0</reload_after_save> <strict_output>1</strict_output> <content_type>application/xhtml+xml</content_type> <compatible_singletons>1</compatible_singletons> <image_xsl_uri>kupudrawers/imagedrawer.xsl</image_xsl_uri> <link_xsl_uri>kupudrawers/linkdrawer.xsl</link_xsl_uri> <image_libraries_uri>kupudrawers/demolibraries.xml</image_libraries_uri> <link_libraries_uri>kupudrawers/demolibraries.xml</link_libraries_uri> <search_images_uri></search_images_uri> <search_links_uri></search_links_uri> </kupuconfig> </xml> Does anybody know more about it? newbie question - python-ldap
by Jerry Hsieh 09 Jun '04

09 Jun '04

Hi all, I installed plone2 on a RedHat9(Python2.2 comes with the OS itself) by following the instruction from http://longsleep.org/howto/rh9-python233 with no problem. Now I have some questions regarding the python-ldap installation. According to the "HowToActiveDirectory" http://plone.org/documentation/howto/HowToActiveDirectory from Plone.org 1. Install LDAP for Zope 2. install the openLDAP RPM's 3. openldap-2.0.27-2.8.0 4. openldap-devel-2.0.27-2.8.0 5. Install python-ldapwget http://www.open-it.org/download/redhat7.2/RPMS/python-ldap-2.0.0pre05-1.i386 .rpm (couldn't find API for RedHat9 either) 6. rpm -i python-ldap-2.0.0pre05-1.i386.rpm (get dependencies error message, tried with --nodeps but installed in /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/ instead of /usr/lib/python2.3/...../) 7. cd $ZOPEBASE/lib/python2.1 8. ln -s /usr/lib/python2.1/site-packages/_ldap.so . Is there any other way to install python-ldap API on RedHat9 with Plone2+Python2.3? Any comment/suggestion is welcome Thanks for your time JH
