Zope security and session object
by davidnwd＠bellsouth.net 09 Jun '04

Hi, I've got an external method that calls a SOAP transaction. It returns an array object with an imbedded array. In a folder along with my index_html I've got this code: REQUEST=context.REQUEST # process the search criteria results = context.search(REQUEST) ## the SOAP call # put results in session session=REQUEST.SESSION session['results']=results # display the results state.setNextAction('redirect_to:string:search_results') # Always make sure to return the ControllerState object return state Now, in search_results this: <table border="1" width="100%" tal:condition="request/SESSION/results | nothing"> <tr> <th>DOC Nbr</th> <th>First</th> <th>Middle</th> <th>Last</th> <th>Gender</th> <th>Age</th> <th>Race</th> <th>Status</th> </tr> <tr tal:repeat="item request/SESSION/results"> <td tal:content="item/DOCNbr">DOCNbr</td> <td tal:condition="item/firstName|nothing" tal:content="item/firstName">First</td> <td tal:condition="item/middleName|nothing" tal:content="item/firstName">Middle</td> <td tal:condition="item/gender|nothing" tal:content="item/gender">Gender</td> <td tal:condition="item/age|nothing" tal:content="item/age">Age</td> <td tal:condition="item/race|nothing" tal:content="item/race">Race</td> <td tal:condition="item/status|nothing" tal:content="item/status">Status</td> </tr> </table> And, of course, it's unauthorized (@*#@*#! Zope!) Here's the output from VerboseSecurity: The container has no security assertions. Access to 'DOCNbr' of (SOAPpy.Types.structType multiRef at 51949776): {'status': 'INACTIVE', 'DOCNbr': 139200L, 'isDCC': 0, 'isDOP': 1, 'firstName': 'RANDALL', 'middleName': '', 'gender': 'MALE', 'age': 30L, 'hasDCC': 1, 'race': 'WHITE', 'lastName': 'ADDIS'} denied. No matter what I do, I can't get to anything inside my array. What do I do??? TIA David Atlanta

by hawelek_tlen 08 Jun '04

Hi, I have Problem with REQUEST.SESSION, I habe Mozilla and Internet Explorer, I run easy DTMLMethod in Mozilla, which sets REQUEST.SESSION: <dtml-if "REQUEST.SESSION.has_key('foo')"> This will be printed. <dtml-var "REQUEST.SESSION.get('foo')"> <dtml-var "REQUEST.SESSION.get('czas')"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "REQUEST.SESSION.set('foo', 'bar')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.SESSION.set('czas',ZopeTime())"> </dtml-if> An essentially arbtrary Then I run other Mozilla with the same DTMLMethod and REQUEST.SESSION is already sets, but it shouldn't be sets, so I suppose it depend on Mozilla, with IE everything goes ok, it mean new Internet Exporer new SESSION Object, I make Portal for 200 Users and for each User at logging to Portal I should to save information about user, Is something better than SESSION Object to keep date about user and then to delete it after logout, maybe someone help me, thanks for help, regards, Adam

RE: [Zope] open

Thanks for the help, Abraham. > Your External Method file is in the Extensions folder, which is normally part of your Zope installation's directory tree. Here is an example that I have used successfully. In some other directory, put a file containing the python code that you wish to execute. For example - Zope Extensions ...(other Zope directories) YourProject __init__.py YourPythonFile.py Data The __init__.py file turns that directory into a Python "package". "Data" is a subdirectory. In the __init__.py file, put code similar to the following - import os.path BASEPATH=os.path.dirname(__file__) DATA_PATH=os.path.join(BASEPATH,'Data') Now put YourProject into the Python path. There are several ways to do this, but the easiest is to write the absolute path to the directory on one line in a .pth file - say "project.pth". Put this file into the same directory as Zope's Python executable. In your external method, place code similar to the following - from YourProject import BASEPATH, DATA_PATH from YourProject import YourPythonFile.YourFunction Now the paths and functions are available to the whatever external method code you wish to write. I recommend just computing the right directories and calling the module's code, something like this - Import os.path def external_method(filename): yourPythonFile.yourFunction(os.path.join(DATA_PATH,'data.txt')) Of course, you can pass the REQUEST or whatever else you like as well. Serious problem with PlacelessTranslationService
by Peter Bengtsson 08 Jun '04

The latest ZWiki requires PlacelessTranslationService so I installed the latest version (1.0fork-rc7). When I start my Zope (2.6.1) I get these messages:: 2004-06-08T11:24:32 INFO(0) PlacelessTranslationService Applying patch *** Patching ZPublisher.Publish with the get_request patch! ***------ 2004-06-08T11:24:56 INFO(0) PlacelessTranslationService Initialized: ['en.po', 'es.po', 'ga.po', 'fr.po', 'it.po', 'pt-BR.po', 'zh-CN.po', 'zh-TW.po', 'fr-CA.po'] from /home/peterbe/zope261/lib/python/Products/ZWiki/i18n ------ When I try to create a ZWiki I get this error:: Error Type: RuntimeError Error Value: Shouldn't load state for '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00R\x96' when the connection is closed With this traceback:: Traceback (innermost last): * Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish * Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply * Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object * Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 252, in __call__ * Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 283, in _bindAndExec * Module App.special_dtml, line 174, in _exec * Module Products.PlacelessTranslationService.TranslateTags, line 68, in render __traceback_info__: translate * Module Products.PlacelessTranslationService, line 74, in translate * Module ZODB.Connection, line 505, in setstate RuntimeError: Shouldn't load state for '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00R\x96' when the connection is closed I read on http://plone.org/documentation/howto/HowToInstallAndUsePlacelessTranslation… that I have to compile the .po files with something called 'msgfmt'. I don't have that on any of my linux machines, nor cygwin nor win XP. On my Debian, it doesn't even find a package called 'msgfmt'. Any ideas anyone? [By the way, does PlacelessTranslationService have a homepage? Can't even figure out from where I got this release] -- Peter Bengtsson, http://www.peterbe.com

XML-RPC and dates
by Ulrich Wisser 08 Jun '04

08 Jun '04

Hi, maybe this is a FAQ? But I didn't find anything in the archives. I would like to include dates in my xml-rpc answers. Zope gives me an error "long int exceeds XML-RPC limits". In my Script (Python) I am not allowed to import the DateTime class from xmlrpclib. Do I really have to use external methods? Thanks Ulrich

Problem: Call Zope and wait for user input from another server ...
by Eddie Moench 08 Jun '04

08 Jun '04

Hello all, We have the problem that we need to call Zope from a middleware server written in Java, present a web page with forms to the user, wait for the input from the user and then give the filled forms back. The problem with a simple URL-call is that when we call the forms page we for sure get only the empty forms page back. But we need the user input, thus the action-page of the forms-page. Does anyone have an idea how to solve such a problem? Cheers, Eddie. -- Dipl. Wi.-Ing. Eddie Moench Director Web-Application-Development, ontoprise GmbH

Zope memory problem
by Tim Edwards 08 Jun '04

08 Jun '04

Hi, We have a Zope 2.6.2 server running on a Windows 2000 Server with 1.5GB of RAM running an application that connects to an SQL Server database. We have found that the Zope service (python.exe) continually builds up RAM usage until it finally crashes. After restarting the service it rapidly builds up to 20-50MB. Within a day or 2 it will reach 200MB and after a week or 2 it will reach a little over 1GB (often after or during a period of heavy usage) and will crash and have to be restarted. It never seems to go down - even during quiet times when no one is using the system it doesn't release any memory, the memory usage of the Python process just keeps climbing. Any ideas why this could be so? (The application uses external methods to create objects of classes and return them to be used in the ZPT) Tim Edwards Trainee Analyst Programmer Henry Walker Eltin Phone: 02 9887 6393 Email: tim.edwards(a)hwe.com.au

Accessing sys.exc_info() from python script
by Jim Cain 08 Jun '04

08 Jun '04

I need access to error info inside of an except in a Python script. How do I get that? Specifically, I'm executing an Oracle stored procedure, and if I catch an exception, I want to include the error message in the return value. Here's a greatly simplified example using sys.exc_info if I could actually import and use it: import sys try: context.my_proc print 'OK' except: print 'Error: ' + sys.exc_info()[1] return printed Is there a Zope-ish way to access the info returned by exc_info()? Thanks, Jim
