Upgrade 2.6 to 2.7 broke PythonScript access to ZSQL results

(also see new information at the bottom) Hi all, I've upgraded a Zope instance from 2.6 to 2.7.0 and now Pythonscripts cannot access attributes of ZSQL_Method results. Even when logged in with the manager role, I get an unauthorized exception. This doesn't seem to be a binding/context security issue. I'm using gvibDA 0-9-7 on Python 2.3.3 RedHat Linux 8 As Manager, for example, I can test this ZSQL_Method: --- SQL_Get_User -- select userid as username,userpassword,userrole,orgid,peopleid from People where userid = <dtml-sqlvar username type=string> -- I can use the test tab and lookup userid 'brad' and I get the results I expect. The SQL_Get_User ZSQL_Method is in the same folder as my acl_users folder. Also in this folder is the PythonScript GetOrgId. --- r = context.SQL_Get_User(username=username) if not r: return '' return r[0].orgid -- (I get the same error if I use container instead of context in this script) When I test GetOrgId as a manger (or anyone else for that matter) I get a traceback that says I am not allowed to access 'orgid' in this context. That makes me think that the object being return from the DA doesn't have the correct security attributes. I don't recall reading about any changes in DA or DB.py regarding this. Any ideas? CMFTopic friendly date criterion

I've looked for answers to this elsewhere but haven't found any, so hopefully turn to you all! Situation: adding a Topic to find items that are less than, for example, 2 weeks old. I'm using Zope 2.7.0, CMF1.4.2, and Plone 2.0-final. Problem 1: when I set the "friendly" date criteria to "less than", "2 weeks", and "old" and hit save, the "less than" is changed to "more than" and the Topic returns no results. Problem 2: when I set the "friendly" criteria to "within", "2 weeks", and "old" and hit save, the parameters are saved but the Topic still returns no results. In short, I cannot get any useful results when using any time-related criteria. I look forward to your helpful suggestions!! mjh

Try increasing the cache to say 15000 (assuming you have enough RAM on the server) and see how that affects the load rate. 2000 is a relatively low setting, but that really depends on the size of the ZODB. How many objects are in your ZODB? Are you using ZEO? (I assume not) -Casey

Well those log messages at least are perfectly normal. The "home" for the PTS is at http://sf.net/projects/collective. I understand the best place to get support for it is from the Plone community ... I don't compile my PO files into anything and it works just fine, so you can leave them as is. As for the error itself, I don't know ... I would've expected PTS to require Zope 2.7/Python 2.3 though (Since it's a backport from Zope 3) ... Might that be it? [Zope] LocalFS - Allow View of Files, Disallow Browse of directories

Hello all, I'm trying to set up LocalFS folders in Zope that will allow anonymous users to access contents of individual files in the folder, but they will not be able to browse the directory. Something like Apache, and what it does with the icons directory. Thanks. Samir

(mistakenly sent this to the poster, re-sending it here) using a Cron / Windows Scheduler job it would be trivial to write a script using the Python HTTP module to make periodic requests to your web server from the proxy server. do something like this: #------------------ import httplib conn = httplib.HTTPConnection("your proxy server address here") requestpagelist = ('index.html',....) # all the pages you want cached for page in requestpagelist: conn.request("GET", page) res = conn.getresponse() # do any other processing on the response here conn.close() #------------------ This is basically a 2 second hack of the example code from python.org for the httplib module. Setup a scheduled job (Cron for linux, Scheduler for Windows) and your pages will periodically be grabbed and cached. Product for Out-of-Process jobs

Hello, I need to generate some huge PDF-report out of process. So the user sees some waiting screen, while the report is generated. When generation is finished the report is delivered. First I did it with Threads. It was a pain, but the waiting screen worked. Now I do it with ZEO, but the waiting screen doesn't work any more. I'm now finally thinking about a generic product allowing me to do a task out-of-process. Could someone please tell me how to get things done without threads. I have already read http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1058719806 . But the line pdf = ReportGen().createReport(report()) is a bit cryptic to me. Is someone interested in helping me with this product?
