Hi all, I just noticed a problem with TextIndexNG. I'm running zope-2.6.2, with Plone 1.05 and TextIndexNG-2.05 on a RedHat distribution. Wvware and pdftotext are installed as well. When I run the server in Debug mode, there is no problem. All pdf and word documents are indexed. But once the server is ran normally (no debug mode), TextIndexNG works fine with the pdf files, but don't index word documents. There are no error messages and since the problem only occur when we aren't running on debug, it's not easy to find out what's going on. Thanks for any suggestions ! Calling the del function from a DTML document/method

Hello. Is it possible to call the del function(this deletes single/multiple items from a list) from a DTML document/method. If so, what is the correct syntax for this? Thanks. - Asad

Running zope single threaded fixes memory leaks and frequent sigsegv(11) restarts.

Hi, This combines two previous questions about problems I have been experiencing with large memory leaks and also lately zope being restarted regularly by a sigsegv(11) signal. Both of these issues have been "fixed" by running zope on our production server with a single thread. We are currently running zope 2.6.2, python 2.1.3, on debian stable. The memory leak problem could be reproduced on the dev server but the sigsegv problem could not be reproduced. Running the dev box single threaded did fix the leak problem there as well though. The dev box is due to be upgraded to zope 2.7 and python 2.3 but is there anything I should be looking at that could be the cause of these problems? I have done a lot of searching but have not found many clues to the next step other than upgrade zope. The page I read about running single threaded suggests a C extension being a likely cause. I have been reading up on creating c extensions for python, but how do you track down where/when existing python code makes use of a c extension? Being new to the debugging side of things, can someone give suggestions on links/info on simple explanations of debuggers and how best to use them to solve such an issue as I have here. Autologin

I've got a basic folderish python product where its instances will by default have the View permission switched off, so you get bugger all unless you authenticate yourself. By saving the username and password in Mozilla/IE/... it just requires an Enter touch when the login dialog appears; but I don't even want that to appear. I want it to work like Sourceforge does where it remembers my whole login without any authentication on each visit. Updating content from one Zope instance to another

I want to run a development -> production system with two CMF sites and am looking for advice on how to do this. Should I run two CMF sites in the same ZODB, and write a script to update production content from development content? This system is an interim solution on the road to adoption of Zope4Edu. We're under a rigid deadline and staff resources are thin due to other demands. The content of the site lives in Page Templates, not portal content objects (I'm mainly using CMF for portal_skins) and there's no workflow. This probably wasn't the best way to do it, but it seemed easier to do everything "by hand". The main problem is, I'm worried about developers frequently breaking pages due to ZPT compilation errors and would prefer have changes made and tested on the development system, then copied to production (either manually or automatically). We are using Dreamweaver over WebDAV and can do XML validation there (we're standardizing on XHTML 1.0 transitional). Hopefully that will catch most problems, but ... Handling object changes

Hi all, I'm looking for some method to handle changes on my objects. I'm interested in persistence changes. I know I should be able to handle some changes writting a __setattr__ method, but I'm also interested into handle changes even if they are done in a list attribute, or in a dictionary attribute. That's it, I would be able to handle any changed market in the "self._p_changed = 1" way, but I'm not able to find the piece of code doing this work. Anybody knows if it is possible ? If not, anybody knows where is the logic doing this work in Zope (Connection, Storage, Persistence, ...) ? Thanks in advance Santi Camps

Hi Chris, I am having very similar acquisition issues in Zope, ie I would like to access contents in child folders but can never get the namespace correct. I would like something like Transparent Folders, but it sounds like this is antiquated. I would definitely like to try your new solution. Thanks. I'm not a linux expert, but I know some old linux kernels, c libraries, and ext2 don't have large file support. Perhaps an linux kernel upgrade will solve it. You could also tried to create a file greater than 2 Gb from the unix shell: dd if=/dev/zero of=big_file_test bs=1024 count=2600000 If everything goes well, you will see a 2.5Gb file called "big_file_test". On the contrary, you will see an error, which means that your debian really doesn't support large files. Indeed you will need to upgrade. Regards, Josef
