Permission:when a permission is assigned to Anonymous

Hi there, I have the impression (but I am unsure) that when a permission is granted to Anonymous, this permission is set for everybody. I gather this from the followin code: from AccessControl.User.py def allowed(self, object, object_roles=None): """Check whether the user has access to object. The user must have one of the roles in object_roles to allow access.""" if object_roles is _what_not_even_god_should_do: return 0 # Short-circuit the common case of anonymous access. if object_roles is None or 'Anonymous' in object_roles: return 1 ... Permissions: A question

Hi there, in CMF the rigth to add content is controlled by the permission "Add portal content" When I create my own portal type, say RR_content it gets automatically the "Add RR_contents" permission assigned . However I have the impression that to add portal content this permission is not taken into accout. It is still enough to have the permission "Add portal content" Do I miss something here ? What is that automatic permission for ?? thanks Robert

Sometimes, after submitting a form for processing, by my own Product methods, I get: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Error Type: ValueError Error Value: Cache values may only be in one cache. What causes such an error? Thanks Mohamed~

zcatalog to return the first paragraph of the summary metadata !!!

Hi, I have a zcatalog object that stores part of my DTML doc content into matadata summary. Presently it displays the summary based on the no of characters i have specified, this is not good enough bcos at time the phrases displays most time do not make sense. ExtFile 1.2.0 copying

In general, I have existing files that are part of a yearly curriculum. I need to be able to copy them so that a file can be used from academic year to academic year with any changes to that file for a given year only occur to that year's file instance. Any ideas how I would go about creating a new ExtFile object while using an existing ExtFile object as the file's source? Can this be done in a DtmlMethod or must I use a python script or external script to pull this off? When I try to point to an existing ExtFile object as the file argument in order to force a _copy call, I get an error. Maybe I am referencing the ExtFile object incorrectly; however, the fact that the error indicates a problem with the _copy call itself lends me to believe that the error lies elsewhere. Details: The syntax for adding an ExtFile to Zope is manage_addExtFile, with four arguments: id, title, description, file. In this example I have an ExtFile object in a folder called "files", which lies in the folder "Test". This DtmlMethod is being called from the Test folder as well. I have even gone as far as to set Proxy permission to Manager just to see if it is a permissions issue, with no change. Group mapping not working on LDAPUserFolder

Hi, I just found that the group mapping isn't working for our LDAP. I tried with the LDAPUserFolder 2.4beta2 and CookieCrumbler 1-1. I could authentificate myself against the LDAP, search some users, and I could also see the groups, but the group mapping (on the groups tab) didn't work. This is what I have: 1) We have an extra attribute for the LDAP Schema: LDAP Attribute Name: ou Friendly Name: group Multi-valued: Yes This attribute gives us a list of groups to which a user belongs to. Then, I found that line 333 of LDAPUserFolder.py (method _lookupuserbyattr): groups = list(self.getGroups(dn=dn, attr='cn', pwd=user_pwd)) doesn't return any group for this user, so, I replaced it for: groups = user_attrs.get('ou',None) if groups==None: groups = list(self.getGroups(dn=dn, attr='cn', pwd=user_pwd)) and now it works. I think this is possible on our case because of the additional "ou" attribute, but would it work on other configurations? Is this only happening to me, or is it a bug? Regards, Josef

Zope X3 3.0.0 beta 1 released

Dear Zope community, The Zope 3 development team is proud to announce the first beta release of Zope X3 3.0.0. Zope X3 is the next major Zope release and has been written from scratch based on the latest software design patterns and the experiences of Zope 2. The "X" in the name stands for "experimental", since this release does not try to provide any backward-compatibility to Zope 2. Download http://zope.org/Products/ZopeX3 Installation instructions for both Windows and Un*x/Linux are now available in the top level README.txt of the distribution. Changes to alpha 2 - More packages have been removed from the distribution. This includes the 'session' package and all the packages that deal with Python code inside the ZODB, such as 'zodbcode' and persistent interfaces. - Complete reimplementation of the event system to use subscribers. - Updated the online help system (not to be confused with API doc tool) to reflect the latest APIs and design patterns. - The access log can now be configured via the 'zope.conf' file. - The underlying component lookup machinery has been overhauled. Every Zope thread now knows automatically about the context. This simplified the component lookup API a lot. - Several bug fixes. - The Russian translation was completed and the German one was updated as well. Goals The API is frozen now for X3.0.0. We would like to ask all people to test this release and report any bugs or mis-behaviors! The beta period is scheduled to last for about 1 month. During this month we will try to complete the following tasks: - Fix outstanding bugs. - Optimize critical components to speed up the system. - Write and update documentation. - Add and complete translations. - Remove as many XXX comments as possible.
