thanks Paul, but... How does my browser's back button fill in the form values? Is there really no way to set a value into the FORM section of the REQUEST? For each input tag, setting up a tal lookup and fill-in, A. seems like a lot of work B. violates the ZPT concept of separating logic from layout. I would prefer keep all the logic in the python script.

context.MailHost

I'm struggling with MailHost (Acquisition?). I've got a form which, through a PythonScript, sends me an email. This works fine. (context.MailHost.simple_send(...), is the call to send the email FWIW). When I move the MailHost up one directory, the self same script fails with something akin to: "Cannot locate object at: http://127.0.0.1:8080/xxx/yyy" I thought that, by Acquisition, Zope would look in the current folder, then the parent, then the parent's parent etc until it found the required object (or not). Obviously I don't understand this process. Can anyone help as I've spent some time trying to understand where I'm going wrong. How do I... use a python script to pre-fill the value of a form's field? I am setting a field in the request, but it appears in the 'other' section of the request. Page Template - html form ------------------------------- <html> <body> <form method="POST" action=""> Enter text: <input name="aformfield" type="text" value="" /> <input type="submit" name="form.button.submit" value="Submit" /> </form> <br /><br /><br /> <p tal:content="structure request">stuff</p> </body> </html> Python Script ------------------------------- #Get the HTML request object myrequest = container.REQUEST #preset the request field myrequest.set('aformfield', 'a value') #go to the form return context.theform(REQUEST=myrequest) Note: I am actually trying to pre-fill a CMFformcontroller template in plone 2.0. Corrupted Data.fs alert when compacting

Cann't access zope

I am running the latest Debian 3.0 testing distribution and just installed zope 2.6.2-6. I tried to start zope with: debian:/etc/init.d# ./zope start Starting Zope instance default... Waiting instances in late: default(0), done. However, I can not access zope at the default port at 8080. It seems no application is listing on that port, according to the netstat -l result. The ps command show that zope seems to run well: zope 11704 11685 0 01:56 ? 00:00:05 /usr/bin/python2.2 /usr/lib/zope/z2.py --icp 9676 -W 9674 -m 9675 -l /var/log/zope/default/Z2.log --pid /var/run/zope/default/Z2.pid -f 8021 -p /var/lib/zope/cgi-bin/default -u zope -M /var/log/zope/default/Z2-detailed.log -z /usr/lib/zope -w 9673 INSTANCE_HOME=/var/lib/zope/instance/default SOFTWARE_HOME=/usr/lib/zope/lib/python Can anybody give me an idea what could be missed? Any tip would be appreciated.

FTP and firewall

Hello, For users on the internal network, the Zope 2.6 FTP server works fine. However, we wish to expand the application to distributed clients over the internet. The hardware used is a CISCO PIX 501 firewall. The current settings are as follows: access-list outside-in permit tcp any host <WAN IP ADDRESS> eq 8021 static (inside,outside) <WAN IP ADDRESS> xxx.xxx.x.xxx netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0 The problem is, I suspect as per the FTP protocol, the client decides the local socket of the data channel (not very good for firewall support). However, I have been successful with other standard FTP servers using similar treatment. Is there a resolution to this issue? Thank you, Robert __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? It seems that you stored the result of a Z SQL Method as an attribute of a persistent object. This is impossible as such instances cannot be unpickled (aka unserialized). It might not be easy to fix this problem. If you are lucky, the fatal modification is still listed in your "Undo" tab. In this case, undo the respective transaction. If not, a bit of surgery will be necessary to get rid of the attribute again. There is a HowTo around (I think on ZopeLabs) that explains how to get rid of an object causing a "POSKeyError". A similar approach can be used to get rid of your problematic attribute. BEWARE: do not store Z SQL Method results as part of any persistent object (this also implies: do not store it in a session). By the way: the code fragment you posted seems innocent (with respect to your current problem). Identifying object type

I have just uploaded a Link object to Plone using FTP but Plone sees it as a Document type rther than a Link type. How do I change the type? Doesn't Zope use the 'Type' keyword in the file to identify the object type? -- John
