Hello I want to create something like a simple calc-sheet in zope : lines & rows coming from objects created by zclass input information and make some simple predefined calculation like sums and multiplication To do that I wanted to assign DYNAMICALLY variables (via exec(statement) but it seems that this is not possible with zope. Errors Creeping onto FTP Sessions
by Edward Pollard 21 Feb '04

21 Feb '04

I've recently discovered the most unusual thing with our FTP clients. Occasionally, with no rhyme or reason, they cannot retrieve their files. The log is less than helpful. 142.66.35.80 3070 ==> 227 Entering Passive Mode (142,66,6,31,199,202) 142.66.35.80 3070 <== RETR remote_icon.jpg 142.66.35.80 3070 ==> 550 Error opening file. I'm not even sure what this means. I can FTP in with the same account at the command line and successfully retrieve the document. It seems like my list of problems with Zope is growing long, I'm hoping someone can help me prune it. --- Edward J. Pollard, B.Sc Webmaster, University of Lethbridge

FTP Access: Large Text Files Transfer Super-Slow
by Edward Pollard 21 Feb '04

21 Feb '04

Greetings, We are using FTP access to store content in Zope. Some of this content is large (~20MB) binary files - software distributions. However, when we download the files via FTP, the Mac versions top out at 2-3k/s. The PC versions come down too fast to get a transfer speed. A look in the ZMI, and Zope sees the PC versions as Files, and the Mac versions as DTML documents. You see, the Mac versions are HQX files, so I guess when they were FTP'ed up, Zope saw them as readable text and stored them as DTML documents. (I don't dare try to view their properties via the ZMI, as that causes Zope to attempt to display all 20MB of HQX in the editing pane.) We have not had any problems accessing these files via the web, but the Mac files do transfer 50% slower than the PC files via HTTP. That is still plenty fast enough to avoid being annoying, unlike the FTP transfer differences. Anyone with thoughts on what is happening, or what I can do? Ed

uservfs
by John Poltorak 21 Feb '04

According to zope.org there is a utility, uservfs, which allows you to mount Zope ftp service as a filesystem. Unfortuantely the links point to a dead project on SourceForge so I can't find anything about it. -- John

Zope Help System Broken?
by Nathan Coulter 21 Feb '04

21 Feb '04

If I enter the Zope Help System by clicking on the help link in the ZMI, then go to Zope Help - API Reference, and click on any link in that section, I get prompted for authentication, and eventually get this error: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access 'name' in this context I then have to reauthenticate in the ZMI the next time I click on a link. I am using Zope 2.7. Anyone know what is causing this?

Zope and IIS and pcgi
by Marko Faldix 20 Feb '04

20 Feb '04

Hello, I am quite new to Zope. I am to have both Zope (2.7.0) and IIS 5.0 on win2k server with Windows Challenge and Response Authentication. So I am just following http://www.zope.org/Members/brianh/iis_howto and stuck immediately on the point "2. Edit zope.pcgi; fix the paths,..." because I don't find anything that has to do with pcgi on the machine. There is no pcgi directory on the whole harddisk. Should have been pcgi automatically installed with the Windows installation of Zope-2.7.0, or do I have to install pcgi manually and where to get it for win2k server? Did we miss something during Zope installation? Thanks for help. Marko Faldix
