Strange problem about Catalog

Hi, Can anybody help me to solve this problem? After recataloging the whole web site, I found a very strange problem: it takes about 10 seconds to access a page that may be dynamically generated by DTML methods using catalog. But it is very fast if you just access a static page in the same site by giving url directly. So I guess it is caused by catalog. I search the list for an answer, but I still don't know how to solve it. My zope server is old, it is 2.4. I think upgrading the version is not a choice for me because the server is controled by others, not our group. In addition, some zope concepts confused me. For example, our server actually hosts websites that are developed and maintained by different groups. And each group just manage its own folder. I think zope is better for this model. But when one group uses Zclass, they have to put their own zclass product in the control panel which needs administrative right. Is that weird? If i need to fix the bug in these zclass products, i have to have the right to access the root folder ( the whole zope ) so I can also change the contents belonging to other groups. Why do we put such constraints (zclass in contrl panel)? Why not create control panel for each folder and let each group has it s own private zclass product? Maybe I'm wrong. A conditional dtml-in tag?

Hi- I have a dtml page which displays the results of a sql query: <dtml-in expr="my_query(category1=category1, category2=category2)"> <TR><TD> <dtml-var NAME> </TR></TD> </dtml-in> The values that are passed to the query are obtained from the request object. If the value for category2=None then I want to leave category2 out of the sql query as below: <dtml-in expr="my_query(category1=category1)"> <TR><TD> <dtml-var NAME> </TR></TD> </dtml-in> The sql query has been designed to handle this using the optional tag. However, it falls over if I break the in tags up with an if tag, e.g.: <dtml-if "category2=None"> <dtml-in expr="my_query(category1=category1)"> <dtml-else> <dtml-in expr="my_query(category1=category1, category2=category2)"> </dtml-if> <TR><TD> <dtml-var NAME> </TR></TD> </dtml-in> I have also tried passing a string to the in tag, e.g.: <dtml-if "category2=None"> <dtml-var dummystr="my_query(category1=category1)"> <dtml-else> <dtml-var dummystr="my_query(category1=category1, category2=category2)"> </dtml-if> <dtml-in expr=<dtml-var dummystr>> <TR><TD> <dtml-var NAME> </TR></TD> </dtml-in> but the in tag cannot except a string? I have also tried handling this in python, as it is logic, however this too has been unsuccessful and would quite allow me to format the results as desired. I just want to control how the sql query is executed? Depending on the value of variables in the request object. Any help, much appreciated, Rob

popen2 problem with Zope 2.7.0 and Photo

Furthermore, zope will no longer respond to requests until I restart it. I already verified that origimg._IMdata() doesn't hang. I am using Photo 1.2.3 from http://zope.org/Members/rbickers/Photo/ with ImageMagick on Linux 2.2.20. Any hints? Thanks. Troy

bug with File Library example on 2.7.0

Running Zope 2.7.0 / python 2.3.3 I ran into a bug with the File Library example app. When you click on the column headers twice to resort in reverse you get an error: Error Type: ValueError Error Value: An integer was expected in the value 'True' The url causing the problem is: .../FileLibrary/index_html?sort=date&reverse:int=True On Zope 2.6.3 / python 2.2.2 the example works and the URL is: .../FileLibrary/index_html?sort=date&reverse:int=1 Tom

Registering Zope's Python Instance in Win32

Hi all, I'd like to register the Python that comes with Zope as the primary python instance. Last time I did this, i.e., used a python script to update the windows registry, it was someone on this mailing list who was kind enough to point me to the right place/method. I've lost the link, tried finding it on Zope.org without success, and am now hoping someone on can help me out again... Thanks. Samir

Deian setup

I'm running Debian sarge and I've just installed zope and plone, but I can't seam to login to the zope management area. zope is running, I can see it at http://localhost:9673/ but I can login using 'cmsuser' and 'password' I've used zope-zpasswd -u james -p password /var/lib/zope/access to set up another user and then restarted zope but I still can't login. Can any one tell me what I'm doing wrong and where I can find some debian specific instructions. Thanks James
