You can get this to work by using multiple hostnames for the same host. What I do is I start Zope/Plone listening on 2 ports, and this allows me to log in to the site, locally or remotely, using different usernames/passwords in Mozilla, using different tabs. What I'd ideally like to be able to do is use Apache & VHM to forward all requests on one port to the management screens, and on the default port, to the view screens. I think I have it worked out with Rewrite rules, but it doesn't always work. I realise that this is a bit off-topic as it is more of a general web-browser question but I was hoping that some Zope users have had some experience using Mozilla during application development. I've tried starting one instance then starting another and switching profiles, but it doesn't work - when you 'Switch Profile' it switches the profile for every open browser window, leaving me back where I started. Unfortunately I'm on Windows so I don't have the flexibilty of X servers. -----Original Message----- From: Terry Hancock [mailto:hancock@anansispaceworks.com] Sent: Wednesday, 28 January 2004 12:32 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Using Mozilla with Zope On Tuesday 27 January 2004 06:06 pm, Tim Edwards wrote: > We are currently developing a > Zope/Plone application which uses standard Zope authentication using an > acl_users folder. I use Debian Linux and KDE, so this may not be directly applicable to you, but . . . I have used Konqueror + Mozilla, Galeon + Mozilla, and Konqueror + Galeon to do this. I've also tried running Mozilla on two different accounts or two different computers. That is to say, working from a laptop, I start one Galeon or Mozilla locally on my laptop, and start one on my desktop via ssh -X from the laptop. I think you can also do this on one computer by using two different users, but I'm not sure how you get both to be able to use the X server (probably a lot like the ssh -X case, though). Then again, Mozilla has an "Identities" feature (sort of like usernames within the program). Can you not just launch Mozilla with Identity "A" and then another with Identity "B"? That seems like that ought to work. creating a data edit form
by Tom P. Allred 28 Jan '04

Hi, (It is not my intent to cross post but I sent this to the Formulator list yesterday and still haven't seen it show up.) I'm pretty new to Zope so please speak slowly and use small words. :o) Several months ago I started a small learning project in Zope using Formulator. I got to the point of successfully creating data input forms, storing the entered data in ZODB objects, cataloging the objects, and using the catalog to retrieve and display data from an object. Life intruded and forced me to lay the project aside for a couple months but now I'm ready to pick it back up. I'm hoping someone can help kickstart me into the next step which is providing a data edit form to let the user change previously stored data. Currently, to show previously saved data, I give the user a drop-down box with all the record keys, let them select a key and click Submit, then use a Python script to query the catalog and print/return the selected fields (property values) to a display page. What I'd like to do is return the selected fields into the input form so the user can edit them. Here is the ZPT code (taken from a forgotten example) used to display the original input form. <form name="dataform" method="post" action="formresult.zpt"> <table tal:define="form here/dataform" align=left> <tr tal:repeat="itemz here/dataform/get_field_ids"> <span tal:define="fieldobj python:form.get_field(id=itemz)"> <th align="left"> <font size=4> <font face="verdana"> <b tal:content="fieldobj/title">Field Display Label</b> <b>:</b> </font> </font> </th> <td> <input type="text" name="itemz" tal:replace="structure python:fieldobj.render()"> </td> </span> </tr> <tr cols="*,350,*"> <td> </td> <td align=left><input type="submit" value=" Submit "></td> <td> </td> </tr> </table><br> </form> Could someone please explain how to get the fields retrieved by my Python script into the form so the user can change them? Clarification: I am trying to access a Plone application that we are developing logged in as a user. The application uses an acl_users folder and Plone's standard logout/login page. At the same time I want a ZMI window open logged in as me, an owner of the whole Zope instance, not just the plone site. It seems to be possible to have 2 ZMI windows open logged in as different people but not a ZMI window and a window on the Plone application. Mozilla can have two instances going at the same time if you have two different profiles: see the Profile Manager. You can either always start Mozilla that way, or (I think) it'll give you a choice when you try to start a second time. I recall that the Windows installer makes an icon for the Profile Manager. On the command line you can just throw a '-ProfileManager' flag on. I don't know if Mozilla's issues with multiple instances for the same profile are intrinsic or a feature. --jcc -- "Code generators follow the 80/20 rule. FTP and Zope : Blocking Anonymous FTP Take 2
by Edward Pollard 27 Jan '04

27 Jan '04

Sorry for the long-winded ramble last time, I wasn't entirely sure what my question was, and went on a little bit longer than was needed. The problem really is that I want to block anonymous FTP access, but still need to give people who can authenticate in a nested LDAPUserFolder FTP Access to the root, or else the FTP client of choice (DW) has kittens. The only way to do this seems to be to give FTP Access to Anonymous, but that entirely defeats the pre-established monkey-patch to block non-authenticating FTP logins. Solutions? Edward

FTP Malarky with Gibberish Users
by Edward Pollard 27 Jan '04

27 Jan '04

Hello all, I'm seeking to improve the security of my website. Content is maintained using Dreamweaver via FTP. Authentication is with LDAPUserFolder 2.3. I've never been able to get medusa to disallow anonymous/gibberish logins. Please tell me someone knows how to do this. I'd like users who type in passwords incorrectly to be denied access, not stuck in "No Priviledges Land - Population 1". Those people without passwords and usernames should be denied access entirely, not be allowed to flood my server with commands that are, of course, denied. It's really obnoxious to have to service those that would do this, rather than deny them outright. I'm game for some monkey patches, if so required. Zope 2.6.2, for those that would ask. Thanks in advance, Edward

strange script behaviour
by Marie Robichon 27 Jan '04

Hi everyone, I have a script that loops thru' formulator and creates the insert sql string (with a view to creating the sqlMethod on the fly). When I come to multicheckbox fields I want enter the selected values into my db column by separating them with a semi-colon. However when I want to do this part of the script : if field.meta_type=='MultiCheckBoxField': sql=sql+"<dtml-in " + field.id + ">\n" sql=sql+"<dtml-var sequence-item>;" sql=sql+"</dtml-in>," the '/' of the </dtml-in> prevents the string from being rendered properly and results in the following (and none of the line breaks appear): .... values (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ;,, ;,, , , , , ;, ;,, , , , , , , ;,, , , , , ) However if I remove the '<' of the </dtml-in> and leave it '/dtml-in>, the string renders ok: .... values (<dtml-sqlvar nom type=string >, <dtml-in prestataire> <dtml-var sequence-item>;/dtml-in>, I don't understand at all since all I am doing is concatenating strings. Thanks in advance for your help (full script below) Marie Robichon ________________________________________________________ sql="insert into microtomo\n " sql=sql+"(" for field in context.Formulator.get_fields(): if field.meta_type!='LabelField': sql= sql+ field.id + ", \n" sql=sql[:-3] sql=sql+") \n values \n(" for field in context.Formulator.get_fields(): if field.meta_type!='LabelField': if field.meta_type=='IntegerField': type='int' else: type='string' if field.is_required(): constraint="" else: constraint="optional" if field.meta_type=='MultiCheckBoxField': sql=sql+"<dtml-in " + field.id + ">\n" sql=sql+"<dtml-var sequence-item>;" sql=sql+"</dtml-in>," else: sql=sql + "<dtml-sqlvar "+ field.id + " type="+type + " " + constraint + ">,\n" sql=sql[:-3] sql=sql+">)" return sql
