strange form behaviour
by David Kyte 27 Jan '04

27 Jan '04

Hi I have a form that has a python script as an action in a plone site. If I login to plone as user admin then the script works fine. If I login as user djk(a)microamps.com the script instead of going to doUpdate as it should, pops up a dialoge box saying open/save doUpdate.com. Logging using an email address is fine in all other aspects and I have been using this with 3000 members for the last year just fine. It has just started happening. Anyone experienced anything like that? TIA Dave

Problems with roles in 2.7rc1 too?
by Petter Holmström 27 Jan '04

27 Jan '04

Hello, Are there any known problems with roles and Zope 2.7rc1? I cannot get a Plone-workflow state to work properly, it denies access to all users - including the manager, even tough I've given the manager role all permissions. The only way to awoid the message appearing is to check the Acquire-box of the "Access contents information"-permission. This worked fine on Zope 2.6.2. Could anybody confirm that this is a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance, -Petter-

ZODB limits
by WebMaster＠solari.it 27 Jan '04

27 Jan '04

I'm developing an intranet document management system with Zope/Plone and I'm concerned about the capabilities of ZODB. The system is going to store many thousands of large files, so the Data.fs is very likely to grow up to tens of GB. I'm wondering if ZODB can handle such amount of data in its standard implementation (using Data.fs). I investigated several alternatives, including ApeLib/Dbtab, but they don't seem to work out of the box with Plone (while thay do in ZMI). Is somebody aware of **fully-tested, real-world** applications with multi-GB storage or, in other words, should I stay with ZODB or search for alternatives? Thanks Alessio Beltrame

ZCatalog diff from 2.5.2 to 2.6.2
by Jonas Meurer 27 Jan '04

27 Jan '04

hello, for some reasons there seem to be significant changes in ZCatalog between Zope 2.5.2 and Zope 2.6.2. In other words, I don't have the vocabulary option at ZCatalog creation in 2.6.2 any longer. what exactly happened and how can i workaround this? bye jonas -- (c) 2004 by Jonas Meurer <meurer(a)know-it.net>

Upgrading ExtFile
by Andreas Tille 27 Jan '04

27 Jan '04

Hello, I upgraded ExtFile / ExtImage from version 1.1.3 to version 1.2 (on a Debian GNU/Linux testing system). The new version works fine for new uploads. But I have an old application which now does not find its stored images any more. Analyzing the error messages I found the problem: 1. If there is a file <Reposit>/image.jpg the new ExtImage is looking for <Reposit>/image1.jpg . 2. If there is a file <Reposit>/image<n>.jpg the new ExtImage is looking for <Reposit>/image<n+1>.jpg . I placed some symlinks into the repository to verify this behaviour for several images. This is also true for thumbnails etc. Any hint what might be wrong here? BTW, the new versin of Extfile now is available at http://zope.org/Members/shh/ExtFile/ It would be reasonable to mention this fact at the place of the old versions ... Kind regards Andreas.

Patching under windows...
by Philip Kilner 27 Jan '04

Hi List, ...how do I install a Zope patch under Windows. I'm concerned about wearing Google out, although to be honest my patience will be exhausted first... Re: [Zope] ZClass Catalog Update

If I go into the DTML method I created in the "methods" folder of my ZClass and change the Proxy Role to Manager, it works just like it should! > >1) Is there a way to update only the individual ZClass object in the > >catalog > > The method is "catalog_object" -- it, too, has a well chosen name ;-) I have some questions about this, if the object is already in the catalog and just needs to be updated. Would I still use this method, or would this create an additional object in the database? I found the following python script which mentions how to use the catalog_object method: http://www.zopera.org/Members/Caro07/updatecatalog request = context.REQUEST catalog = context.Catalog myobject = getattr (context, id) catalog.catalog_object (myobject, id) However, when I try using this, I receive an error saying that "global name 'id' is not defined" Do you have any suggestions on how to I might implement this correctly? Thanks! John T.
