List problem

Hi, I am having trouble creating a list. I can create a list using the following: <dtml-in expr="_.range(cs_size)"> <input type="text" name="pbr1_temp" size="6"> </dtml-in> I see the information using the following: <dtml-in expr="_.range(cs_size)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('pbr1', pbr1_temp[cell_stack_counter])"> </dtml-in> Now I need to load the list to check items. I thought I could do the following: <dtml-in lookup_all_history_record > <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('creation_date_inspect_temp', creation_date_inspect)"></dtml-in> But if I try to display the creation_date_inspect_temp[sn_counter] I have a Keyerror object unknown. Any pointers or suggestions would be a big help. Thanks. Larry _______________________________________________

Zope in transactional web sites
by Anthony Willoughby 09 Dec '03

09 Dec '03

Hi Apologies if this list is the wrong place to post this request. I am looking for examples of cases where Zope or Plone have been used as the basis for transactional web sites - e.g. banking, shopping. Specifically, Zope should provide the front end to a transactional back-end, preferably processing medium to high volumes of transactions (5 - 10 million/year). I have searched all the Zope related web sites I know but all the case studies provided deal with informational rather than transactional sites. Any pointers appreciated awillo

Newbie Question
by Jose Muniz 09 Dec '03

I am very new to Zope and have a few questions for the list. My partlially redesigned website can be viewed here: http://horn.digimark.net:8080/Butterflies.com/products/010_artwork I need to create a page view for my product subdirectories that have 2 columns. 1st column would contain the small image as is currently being displayed along with a 2nd column which would contain a description of it's contents. So in the case of Artwork the subdirectories would look like this: Image Exotic butterflies encased in elegant acrylic displays Image Framed Tropical butterflies from the Peruvian Rainforest The items within the subdirectory would look the same as above. This would give the pages some balance and not so one-sided. The ideal solution would be to have the page list 20 items/subdirectories split between two colums with text below each item, but this might be asking for too much right now. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance, Jose Muniz Amazing Butterflies 954.575.9047 800.808.6276 Amazing Butterflies & Butterflies.com Where the Magic is Just a Flutter Away www.amazingbutterflies..com www.butterflies.com

searching and serving large textfiles ~120 Mb
by Sebastian Krollmann 09 Dec '03

Hi zopistas, I need to access large textfiles (~120Mb) from zope. I know the python lager file support and that it is better to keep large files out of the ZODB. I have to do a full text search on these files residing in a folder hierachy on the server, show their content around the location of the found string and allow scrolling in that files source from zope. Has anybody done something similar to this with that lager files and would share his experiences? Are there any do's and don'ts or best ways to do it? Thanks for your answers, SK

Re: [Zope] kill LONG request and manage_main DoS?

Many thanks for nice explanation. > >I dont want to > >restart my zope server. > > Almost surely, you will need to... > Unless, you let your request run forever... I was restart my Zope before a while. I was checking debug page for connections and after I see only my connections I click to restart :o)... and Zope works again OK. So I think that customers dont see this little drop-out. But as potential DoS attack - does somebody else see this behavior:? * go to URL: http://server/dtml_document/manage_main over slow (modem) connection * wait to send request, but BEFORE displaying of login form, disconnect * look at linux server "top" command, one from python tasks consume near 100% on forewer... I have firewall (HW based with NAT to my machine, I dont manage them) and Pound 1.4 proxy before Zope, which is configured as: ExtendedHTTP 1 WebDAV 1 UrlGroup ".*" BackEnd 127.0.0.1,8080,1 EndGroup May this situation come with pound+Zope interaction? Many thanks, J. Lukesh

I have attached the method of a class I am trying to use. It queries (I think) the catalog 'users' and uo = ro[0] returns a mybrains instance. When I add the .getObject() I get the error listed below. Worse, I can't clear the error without deleting the directory in which the object resides. I am using zope 2.6.1 with python 2.1.3 def _userFullNameGet(self): ro = self.ssDirectory.users({'e_pnum': 'S.141.int'}) uo = ro[0].getObject() return Error Type: SystemError Error Value: Failed to import class mybrains from module Products.ZCatalog.Catalog What am I doing wrong that can be this disturbing to zope? Can you help me, please? ------------------------------- I have now discovered that the problem seems to occur when the search fails and I get back an empty brain. (yeh, - probably mine!) Trapping out IndexError solves the problem. I am back on the rails. Thanks for your response

A question on how external methods reference modules
by Goldthwaite, Joe 09 Dec '03

09 Dec '03

I've gotten my external module working but It has one little hassle I've been trying to get around. If I make a change to the module, I have to go back to the management screen -> External method name and click on the Save Changes button. It looks like this brings the changes into Zope. Well, I had the bright idea of linking to a stub function that doesn't change and then have the stub function call the real function that's imported. I figured I could then modify my method without re-loading it into Zope. I basically created two modules. In module1.py I have my stub function that chains to module2.py. module1.py import module2 def ReturnData(): """Return some test data""" return module2.GetTheData() module2.py def GetTheData(): """Return the actual data""" return """the actual data""" I can run this in python and it works. After the import module2, I can do a dir on the module2 namespace and I see "GetTheData" as one of the items in the list. When I add module1->ReturnData to the external module in Zope and execute it, I get the error "module 'mytest' module has no attribute 'GetTheData'". If I modify ReturnData to this; import module2 def ReturnData(): """Return some test data""" return dir(module2) the string returned does not show my "GetTheData" function in the list. I was getting an error that 'module2' wasn't found so I had to append it's path using the sys.path.append function. Now I'm not getting an error so I think it's finding module2 but it doesn't seem to be finding the function. I'm confused. Can anyone explain what's going on? As a second part of the question, will this allow me to modify the external modules without re-loading them into Zope? Property of Bar-S Foods. by fowlertrainer＠anonym.hu 09 Dec '03

Hello ! My site have only one main script, and I don't want to create subdirectories on zope like filesystems, because the site's structure is stay in the my outer (InterBase/MySQL) database - in records. So I want to do the site's redirection/navigation with virtual directories. I the user get this page: www.any.com/documentation/xy/private then I want to the zope don't show the an errormessage. The Zope give the control to my script, what know that this directory is not exists, split URL to subtags, and load it's data from the database, and show it. documentation/xy/private 1. zope 2. myscript: select * from documents where name=xy and kind=priv process, show So can I do that ? Thanx for any advance. -- Best regards, fowlertrainer mailto:fowlertrainer@anonym.hu
