- Product creation problem

So I'm creating a product to manage all the URLs I reference external to my web site, BUT... I'm getting THIS when I use manage_addItem: Sorry, an error occurred. Wondering if there would be demand for a degree of offline development of Zope sites. (in the UK all telephone calls are charged) I can see this could be problematic. With many people updating a "live" site, copying across an offline version in entirety would wipe out other updates. Would partial publishing of higher up folders be workable? (ie the manager uploads the folders that control the look and feel, not the sub-folders which contain authors content) Even if desirable, I confess I dont know HOW this would be done. Views anyone? - Z Publisher + Musi-Cal

I wrote a Z Publisher (nee Bobo) module that replaces the CGI script interface to Musi-Cal's database server. It's available for playing/testing at http://www.automatrix.com/~skip/z.html This is a straightforward adaptation of the general search interface available at http://concerts.calendar.com/search.shtml If you try it out and encounter any problems, let me know. BOBO_DEBUG_MODE is set, so any tracebacks generated will be visible. This is a test-only interface, so please don't publicize it outside of the Zope/Bobo community. Performance is fairly impressive. Comparing the following two URLs: http://concerts.calendar.com/cgi-bin/event-search?city=Albany,+NY&keywords=… http://concerts.calendar.com:8080/search?city=Albany,+NY&keywords=acoustic the CGI version averaged 2.6 seconds for ten runs while the Z version averaged 0.6 seconds. The two obvious places to look for the time differences are elimination of the CGI startup time and the performance boost from the new DocumentTemplate code (critical parts written in C and the long-running process's ability to reuse the parsed template). Hi, I've got bobo application that I've converted to run under the pcgi that comes with Zope 1.9 final. The application uses a cookie based authentication/identification scheme. The problem is that the app runnning under pcgi seems to maintain the environment under which it was started, which means that the cookie info never changes. If I start the app as an authenticated user, anybody can get in; if I start it as a non authenticated user, nobody can get in. I've confirmed the static environ by logging it; it never changes. I'm using an old cookie.py module: # by Dave Mitchell (davem(a)magnet.com) 1995 Maybe there is another way to get fresh cookies? Thanks Bill

Has any thought gone into extending the HelpSys stuff to also document the contents of _ and the standard builtin modules? I had something to just dump this out back under Principia at my last place of work - I could re-hack this, but it would be much prettier as a component of HelpSys. - Zope - New MySQLDA breaks connectivity

My last post ended up being caused by a bug in the MySQL adapter (hence today's patch). While I was delighted to hear that it wasn't my fault, I encountered more bad luck after upgrading to the new adapter. With new or existing MySQL connection objects, I am unable to connect and receive an error that my connection string is invalid. Has anyone else had similar problems? Unfortunately, I'm more experienced with Sybase and Oracle, so I'm not sure if it's just something I've done wrong with MySQL. Before, I was just using: testdb root ...as my connection string. Stupid, maybe, but it was sufficient for learning Zope on my non-production workstation. I've since attempted to create users with valid passwords and use them. I've also done something like the following: testdb@myhost myusername mypassword ...and every conceivable variation of that. I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance, Chad Fowler

Hi, I tried Zope last weekend. It's darn coooooool. Let's get Zoped!!! Now my first question in this list: How can I get the subfolders names and proprieties (e.g. title) from DTML?
