Hello! A friend of me has a problem. He tries to add programmatically the instance of Boring product to a folder, but without success. Anyone can help? Thanks in advance. FastCGI and apache setup problems

Hello, just set-up Zope with Apache 1.3.9 and FASTCGI support for the first time today. Although everything seemed to install okay I don't seem to be able to get zope to respond under apache. Apache logs the following message in error_log: [Mon Dec 20 09:56:30 1999] [error] [client 202.139.45.150] (111)Connection refused: FastCGI: failed to connect to server "/usr/local/apache/htdocs/zope": connect() failed I have tried everything, changing permissions, running fastcgi support as a socket under /tmp/zope.soc and as an external TCP port, but all to no avail. Zope seems to be running fine and if I goto port 8080 Zope pops up (although I didn't really expect this - is this meant to happen? Should zope under Zserver and apache at the same time? I only want Zope operating from within Apache.. maybe I'm doing something wrong?) Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks and regards, Andrew.

compiling zope source

Hi, I made changes to the OFS/DTMLDocument.py file...actually I changed the default text that is put into a newly created DTML Document. How do I now get my change to take effect. I assume I need to compile the DTMLDocument.py to DTMLDocument.pyc or something? How do I do this? terry

hierarchical roles

Hello, how can I implement a hierarchical group schema by using roles like this? comp/deptA/subdeptA /deptB/subdeptB /subdeptC ... for authentication I want to check if someone has a role corresponding to the name of a containing folder, i.e. editing should be allowed in subdeptC when someone has either the subdeptC, the deptB or the comp role. now I understand that it is a different thing to have a folder object called "deptB" and a role "deptB" - how can I iterate over the parent folders and check against each role? if I try this I get an error (trace below ..): <dtml-in PARENTS> <dtml-let item=sequence-item> <dtml-if item> .<dtml-var "item.id">. <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_role(item.id,this())"> X </dtml-if> <br> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> The error message is: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: loop over non-sequence ... uses, roles and groups

Hello, while trying to implement a Zope product encountered the following problem: I think I understand the concepts of both users and roles, roles being a set of permissions. In this connection groups (as in Unix) are implemented just by putting the Zope user folders in the right place. When I want to have a more centralized user administration I'd need something like a group attribute for it, so I could give certain roles (in principle I'd just need an editor role) dependent on the user belonging to a certain group. AFAIK none of the products USerDB, GUF oder etcUserFolder provides hooks for this. Where is a good place to start with an implementation and what implications would it have with the Zope security model? thanks for any hints oliver

A while after I submitted this, I figured it out. Here's the fix: return HTML.__call__(self) This evaluates the string as DTML using the environment that called the python method. 2.1.1 and fsimport.py?

1. Does anyone have a version of fsimport.py that works with 2.1.1? 2. How is it supposed to work? I placed the most recent version I could find in the Extensions dir. Then I added an external method in the root folder. Now I have a fsimport object there, with a "Try it" tab... that renders an error when activated. Error: Invalid request The parameter, fsdir, was omitted from the request. Make sure to specify all required parameters, and try the request again.
