ANNOUNCE: Z Classes Tutorial Update

There's a new version of the Z Classes Tutorial available http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Reference/ZClasses It's now available in HTML and PDF flavors. (The HTML is pretty ugly, but it should be a lot better in the next version.) This version of the tutorial has been updated for Zope 2.0.0a2. The next revision of the tutorial will probably be as part of the forthcoming Zope Developers Guide. As always I'd love to hear your comments. -Amos P.S. This is an interesting problem, which I struggled with for a few long dreary hour myself. It seems that manage_changeProperties doesn't exist in the Z Class instance itself, and is thus acquired from its parent (the folder). At least that's how I analyze the behaviour. The "workaround for this bug" or "correct way of doing things" (pick a one; I don't know which it is):  Substitute CDProperties for the name of your property sheet. It seems to me that manage_changeProperties ought to implemented on Z Classes, as you might not always know which property sheet to address. In most cases, I think, you'll just want to say "put all these properties using the property sheets they belong to". Anybody at DC listening? problem with tutorial?

If I create a folder 'test' under my root folder, in which I make a new 'CD' object called myCD (as described in the Z Classes tutorial), and then create run this bit of DTML in that folder:  Instead of myCD's title being changed, the containing folder 'test' gets its title changed to 'Rivers'. What am I doing wrong here? Daniel Drucker

pcgi + apache + manage authentication

Hi all, I've got Zope going with PCGI using Apache, and I'm having trouble with authentication on the _management_ pages. Now, it all works fine with the superuser (I'm making use of the REMOTE_USER env variable, because I want Apache to handle all the password files) on all screens (including management screens), and it fine for normal users on document screens. But when a user goes to the management pages for a directory for which they have permission to manage, Zope pops up a box asking for user/password with an 'unknown' realm (as opposed to the "Zope-realm" that I've set up in Apache's config files). And it always fails, correct password or not. Why isn't Zope accepting the REMOTE_USER variable for the management screens? Using Zope 1.10.2 with Apache 1.3.6, under Linux (Debian)... Ta...
