Problems with Zope 2.0.0a4

Hi there. Since I read that Zope2 is the way of the future, I decided to try it out. I was pretty amazed by Zope1, so I thought it could only get better... Well, now if I try to delete something from the Zope-Root, I get Method Not Allowed The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /Zope. I have Zope running with Apache 1.3.6, and this setup worked with Zope1 without any problems, so I wonder why Apache suddenly denies the deletion. Adding Folders is no problem, and deleting enywhere else works also. Is this a known problem ? Zope2 and database adapters?

Chris Petrilli's status report on database adapters seems to imply that database adapters are functionally working with Zope2, but that upgrades are needed for performance reasons. True? Not having had the chance to try out Zope2 on my Linux box yet (Michel knows why), I can't test this stuff out. cookie deletion

I'm trying to delete a cookie; I set it up with a 365 day expire I tried  but this reveals the original versions of the cookie. The long lived earliest version can't be expired it seems. This is nutscrape 4.5 -- Robin Becker

Zope v Enhydra v NAS v ASP?

I'm evaluating application servers for a small project I'm contemplating that will require persistent storage of user data (text + images), and of course, dynamic personalized pages. I would like to store/retrieve all non-binary data (user and other) as XML if possible. Can anyone point me towards a document that compares Zope and Enhydra? For kicks, I would also be interested in comparisons with NAS, JSP, ASP, etc. I'm mainly interested in ease-of-development, user management, xml support, and scalability/performance. Or if anyone has used both Zope and any of these others, I'd be interested in your personal observations. -dan

Lets try this again - auto-creation

OK, since the last round seemed to be roundly ignored :-) Does anybody know of a way to create a ZClass object without entering an "ID"... I want the user to create an object, and the ID be "autocreated" (a random number, the date/time, whatever). I'll be accessing them through a ZCatalog searching on properties, creation date, etc. and don't care about the unique ID. Any suggestions? Thanks, Bruce -- Bruce C. Names beginning with underscores (with the exception of the _ namespace itself) are illegal in DTML Scripting. This is part of the security design. You can store a "last ID" counter as an int property on the top-level folder, and increment that for every object you create. There is none that I know, but you can certainly use ODBC. I have no idea how the Zope ODBC adapter works on Unix, but there are DB2 ODBC drivers for both Windows and Unix. On Unix, expect to pay dearly for it. OpenLink provides some drivers for free under a limited "personal use" license -- max two connections iirc. DB2 is an excellent database. Isn't "mature Microsoft product" an oxymoron? :-) I've heard bad, bad things about ADSI ("the ADSI fiasco" is one expression I've heard from an enterprise NT expert describing it), but it ought to work more or less as advertised. ADSI won't get the chance to really mature until Win2k though.
