Apparently IE isn't stripping off the Mac resource fork when doing a file upload. I've reported this to Microsoft myself a few times and have, of course, gotten no response. I believe the iCab browser suffers the same problem. Hopefully hopefully hopefully it'll be fixed in IE 5 which is rumored to be released during Macworld NY this coming week. I keep my copy of Navigator around for just this purpose. :/

Can you provide useful > suggestions ? Assuming that the order forms were not going to be very long you might store a cookie containing a list of part_numbers on the order form and the customer_id. Each time the customer came back you'd use sql to look up the customer info and part info. Of course, when they click Purchase you do the right database thing. You shoudl read about Zopes ability to simplify the handling of lists with the :list property. Search the DTML Guide for that. You might even want to go to http://www.zope.org/Download/Contrib and check out the EMarket contributed package. It has some clever ideas. --Rob

inheritance and ZClasses

When using my own python classes as base classes for ZClasses, I want to handle constructors. So, I figured I would add:  after the #with ... createInObjectManager() in my ZClass "constructor" dtml method. But, Zope takes issue with that method name when I commit the dtml, raising a TypeError. Is there a way to call constructors from dtml methods or elsewhere in ZClasses? Other inherited methods (other than constructors) give me no troubles. Here is the traceback: ... New zope feature?

(Haven't researched this one, so it might have been suggested already.) What about an DTML directive  which would be a specialized if clause, which includes its content only if the current caller has the specified role? It is often a very convenient way to create administration GUI of a website to simply include links/buttons to the respective administration pages right where the data you want to administer is displayed. Eg: normal users see only a listing of people and their phone numbers and mail addresses, whereas the administrator also have a little link at the end of each entry to a page where the entry can be edited. Confera and Zope

I know that Confera isnt supported, but I just got it working and its really GREAT! but here is the problem: I can get Confera to work no prob w/ Python 1.5.1 (#1, Mar 21 1999, 22:49:36) [GCC egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Li on linux-i386 but not w/ Python 1.5.2 (#1, Apr 18 1999, 16:03:16) [GCC pgcc-2.91.60 19981201 (egcs-1.1. I am running the stable version of Zope. I have to use 1.5.2 because a) it is up and running, b) i have mysql working very nice on it, c) I'm really lke Confera installed on my localmachien and wanna use it for internal discussions on projects. also, does anyoen know if Zope's Collector has been released? :) george grunyan(a)synergydc.com

Instance methods overriding ZClass methods

In http://www.egroups.com/list/zope/md1354197722.html, Jephte CLAIN noted some interesting behavior when you try to add a DTML Method in an instance that overrides a DTML Method in the ZClass. As of now (2.0a4, which I am geniunely running now), you cannot add a DTML Method of the same name as one that exists in the ZClass itself. I didn't see anything in the Collector on this. Is this the desired behavior? Kevin

Statistics and Missing.Value...

When attempting to format Summary Statistics data with Missing.Value(s), Missing.Value apparently has an incorrect type required for the numeric format operations :  File /usr/pkg/zope/lib/python/Shared/Endicor/Tables/Mining.py, line 259, in summary_table_html File /usr/pkg/zope/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 513, in __call__ (Object: <string>) File /usr/pkg/zope/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_In.py, line 683, in renderwob (Object: data()) File /usr/pkg/zope/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Var.py, line 271, in render (Object: max-PNTR) (Info: ('max-PNTR', None, {'fmt': '%d', '': 'max-PNTR'})) TypeError: (see above) So my Summary Statistics method is expecting to format a numeric value for 'max-PNTR' but it fails because the value isn't a number. Any Suggestions? Thanks
