Zope 2.0.0a3 tree tag bug???

Hi! I've got the following problem: I'm using a tree widget as my navigation toolbar. (http://www.mtg.co.at/) Now, when I'm in a query, that NEEDS some parameters (like most ZSQL methods do), when I press on a [+] to expand a tree view, I get an error, because the generated URL doesn't include the needed parameters. So how do I solve this problem, because this makes the treewidget in concept unusable for navigation on a general site. Shouldn't the tree widget include always the complete QUERY String of the current object? (POST is more complicated, as the HTTP standard forbids reposts without human interaction, so missing POST values will have to be processed by the object somehow.) persistence

Hello I'm trying to work with persistent objects in a PickleDictionary. The objects are not writen into database file - they exists only in memory and they are not persistent. I don't know how to commit new changes. images and Db's

Hello has anyone got any example code for uploading images into a blob field in a mySQL database. I have been trying various things and have had numerous very good replies to my previous mails, but still, alas, cannot get anything to work.... Newbie: Publishing directories

Hello, I am trying to understand how I could have a dhtml page offer a link to a file on another machine via a network path. Given: * Window NT 4.0 workstation environment. * Zope 1.10.3 tied to IIS server via "cgi-bin". I've read: * Zope only publishes data uploaded to it. * That work is being done on products that would allow external html directories to be linked into Zope's html object hierarchy. This future solution might solve my problem if they allowed network path names. * That an external Python method could be written that would read the network file and offer it as a local object. I've tried: * "file:\\othermachine\foobar.html" (in a link) This works for anyone on the local network but not for anyone on the outside. (I knew it wouldn't but offer it as an indicator of what I'm trying to do. Questions: * Is my understanding of the state of affairs correct? * Does IIS offer a solution? Thank you, Larry

Sort of; if I have interpreted unofficial statements on the list from DC people correctly, ZClasses replace products in many cases, although very possibly not all; for example, I'm quite certain that most of Confera could have been implemented as a ZClass. Certainly the product API is complex (or undocumented) to an extent which makes ZClass more desirable, moreover from an object-orientated design perspective, products are inferior. (If that is what you asked. You can't tell how _long_ they looked at the page, in general, because your server only knows when they download the page. I suppose you could do an ugly Java or JavaScript hack to tell you when a user is finished with your page, but the overhead would be excessive for the information gained. I'd hope that Zserver puts out its logs in the Apache common log file format, or can be made to do so. I've not tried it yet. Try Webalizer. It's an _Open_Source_ web log analyzer. See http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer . It works excellently on my (Apache) site. I have written a Python script to drive Webalizer to analyze all of the virtual web sites on your system. This script hopefully is in the "contributed" directory of the webalizer distribution, if not you can download it from ftp://ftp.perens.com/pub/WebLogAnalyzerDriver . Thanks Brce

To answer your first question, let your "parent" ZClass be a descendant of Object Manager; then define your "child" ZClass _within_ the parent ZClass definition; that is, add the child ZClass as a subobject of the parent. Your second question is trickier, because Zope does not, afaik, support properties that are objects. It's possible, but I believe you can't edit these properties through the standard management interfaces. Instead, you must built your own, and you might have to use Python to store these properties. You might want to look at the implementation of Confera and study the code for its mail host property: I don't know if this is implemented by referring to the mail host objects' _name_ or the instance itself though. The alternative, of course, is to use a string property and refer to the object's ID. I believe the ZServer logs are quite standard -- compare them to output from Apache, for example. You should easily be able run them through Analog or WebTrends, for example. Iirc, they're not in the relatively-new, flexible W3C format; maybe this ought to be added as an option.
