If it's of any help: I've stored images in MS SQL (not MySQL) servers, and this is somewhat painful, because you need to convert the binary data into hexadecimal values, thus: insert into foo (myimage) values (0x01020304[...]) I don't know MySQL does BLOb inserts. However, I think it's reasonable that you cannot simply enter a literal string; or? How does Zope handle it? (Btw, I wrote a C extension for Python that performs the hex conversion (because it took literally hours if done in pure Python), and one problem that bugged me for some time was that SWIG doesn't generate wrappers that can take strings containing null bytes; the Python API was transforming my strings into some kind of weird 7-bit-ish format. Unfortunately, I require a very specific sorting algorithm (I'm sorting threaded discussion topics). I solved this easily by implementing an External Method that essentially copied the list of records into its own list, did the processing, and set the attributes. One curious artifact I noticed was that setattr() on the "r" class instance does _not_ add attributes -- or at least not Zope-accessible attributes -- to the instance. Maybe the instance is an acquisition wrapped and I need to use aq_base? ZClasses bug?

Is this a bug or a feature? Only the base ZClasses' property sheets are visible. For instance ZClass A is a base class for ZClass B. I can add property sheets to the ZClass B, but they aren't visible in B instances. However, if I add property sheets in A, they are visible in B instances. ZClasses and methods

Hi! Hope this questions hasn't already been answered on the list. Lately I've been working on a ZClass thingie, but got stuck last night. I've made several methods dtml- and external ones to the class, and want more, mainly a dtml method displaying a form. Now thats no problem, but how shall I address other methods, contained in the class, in the 'action' part of the form? Help is much appreciated! Sture Lygren

Pluggable brains?

Could somebody explain the concept of pluggable brains? I have come across this phrase more than once, and I still don't know what it is. Is there any documentation on this? Zope's storage methods

Hi everyone, I subscribed a few minutes ago, because of this question: Is database storage the only way in which Zope stores its files? It would explain Zope's sluggishness at times... Is there a way to change this to a "normal" method? Regards, Rachid
