Arguments to DTML methods

Given that DTML methods don't accept arguments, is there a simple way to work around passing custom data to a DTML method? I currently have a number of DTML methods that encapsulate HTML fragments (mostly table segemts) that I use often in almost macro fashion. I've broken them out into their own methods as I use the same fragments across mutliple templates folders etc. The text in the HTML segments needs to passed in for each invocation (eg table headers, cel values, etc). Currently I'm wrapping all calls to the DTML method in dtml-let's to define the arguments for the called DTML method: Given a DTML method called, "custom_segment" which looks something like: ...yada... <dtml-var custom_text> ...yada... I invoke it as follows: <dtml-let custom_text="'this is some text'"> <dtml-var custom_segment> </dtml-let> This is pretty hokey, especially when I invoke "custom_segment" half a dozen times in a single template or method. Are you calling manage_addFolder? Try calling it with a REQUEST=None keyword argument. In DTML it would be: <dtml-call "manage_addFolder('aFolderName', REQUEST=_.None)"> This will cause you not to be redirected. -Michel

Refer to sequence-index within SQLmethod?

Hi Folks, My latest quandary is finding a way to refer to a Zope variable that is automajically created by a SQL Query from within SQL itself. I tried including sequece-item as an argument in the ZSQL Method Edit Window, and found out that the Test window doesn't know what I mean by : sequence-index , "sequence-index" , "_['sequence-index']" , or "_.namespace['sequence-index']" . Is there some sorcery required, or is this just not possible? Thanks, Jerry S.

add[Folder, DTML Document]

I've written a simple index_html method that allows me to subvert Zope's folders to create a url directory. the method iterates through objectValues(['Folder', 'DTML Document']). If the object has a property 'url', it displays it as a link, otherwise, it's a folder and is displayed as a link to move into that folder. It's simple and works well. My problem is that I'd like to simplify adding links and folders. For now, I've been using the management interface to do so. I'd like to build my own. I was able to create an addFolder method, and it worked fine except that it returned me to the management view of the folder, instead of the standard public view of the folder. I would like to create an addDTMLDocument method, but I couldn't figure out how to do so while also adding a property (url = "http://xxx.yyy.zzz", etc). Any help is appreciated, and I can upload what I have to my zope.org folder if that would help. Thanks, Bill Scherer
