I am running the server and the browser on RedHat 6.1. The original poster was as far as I can recall on Solaris. When I run the browser on Windows 95 (and the server on RedHat), then *that* bug does not occur, but another nasty bugs (server crashes, sometimes with error messages) do seem to happen. I mailed to Jim Fulton about this too yesterday (and I think I sent a cc to support). I don't consider it to be a minor bug, as I do a lot of restarts during product development. Zope 2.0 on the same machine restarts just fine. I can do some more testing next week if you want, but I did test quite a bit yesterday and it's definitely Not Working for me, for browsers remote or local, though the symptoms are different (each bad). Getting started, product suggestions, advocacy

Hi all--- I'm working on getting a sample install of Zope going at my office, mostly for demo purposes. Ideally, I'd like to do a proof-of-concept for a community portal-type site, which needs the following features: -page personalization for users -RDF channel importing (for headlines) -threaded discussions -ideally, group-based scheduling/messageboards I have Zope installed on a Solaris box. the only database I have installed at the moment is MS SQL Server 7.0, which I could talk to through ODBC. -will Zope talk to SQL Server? if not, what free databases would you recommend? -What data should I be using ZODB for, and what data needs to be in a relational database? -What products should I look into for the tasks I need to do? -Ideas on a plan of attack that'll break me into using Zope relatively painlessly? Also, has anyone put together a Zope Advocacy page or FAQ that I can use with my coworkers? We're a ColdFusion web shop, and I need heavy ammo to convince people to learn another language. srl

newbie question - Adding properties during an import using fsimpo rt rt

I am importing a large number of files into Zope using fsimport. I would like to add a property 'foo' to each new DTMLDocument that is imported from the file system. I have tried to do this in the code immediately following the call to manage_addDTMLDocument (name, '', data), but I have been unsuccessful. The problem I am having is that I don't understand how to get the DTMLDocument object that was just added to the folder so I can call manage_addProperty on it. Below is a snippet of the fsimport.py code that I was trying to do this in. I have a feeling that the solution is pretty obvious, but so far it escapes me. Thanks for any help you could provide. SyBaseDA and select count problem

It seems that whenever I try to use any of the following: select count(*) from <tablename> select count(<columnname>) from <tablename> it returns: "Error, exceptions.ValueError: Empty column name, " Of course, the sql is tested and known to work. converting SQL select list into unique values

I have a non-unique column in a MySQL table - I have looked hard for a way in SQL to convert the results of a SELECT into a list of unique values. I know how to define a table at CREATE to have UNIQUE columns but this is not what I want to do. For example : If the result of the SELECT is : 1, 3, 3, 4, 2, 6, 8, 9, 4, 2, 3, 6 I would like to return: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 i.e. only the unique values of the list. any pointers ? if SQL can't do this, can Zope ? Nuno, I suspect you've got a problem with pdflib running as a cgi app under Apache, which is spewing some error message to stdout and confusing pcgi. "Couldn't load state" error

I recently upgraded my Zope install and now I keep seeing errors like the following in the console log: 2000-01-07T18:09:02 ERROR(200) ZODB Couldn't load state for '\000\000\000\000\00 0\000\002\320' What are these? Everything seems to be working ok, though. Thanks, Shalabh
