DTML "method"?

What is the elegant (read: correct) way to "pass arguements" to a DTML method? This must be a simple question, but I've been reading docs for weeks, and although I know there are hundreds of ways to acquire properties, grab SQL, etcetera, I can't find the simple tutorial of how to do something like: My site has four sections. I want to have a 'section' dtml method that takes a name and a description, that I call like this: <dtml-var section-header name="Authors" description=""" Go here for an in-depth description of what's required to become an author, licensing agreements, and the Authoring section (requires password) """ > <dtml-var section-header name="Developers" description=""" Go here for open source software such as Twisted Reality. """ > ... and so on and so forth. It would be nice if, based on a naming convention, I could have the dtml "section-header" method figure out what the appropriate graphic to insert... Mostly I want repetitive table formatting taken care of though, but without having to special-case all the actual content. Simple ZCatalog Question

If I have an object with a boolean property and I want to find all objects in my catalog which do *not* have this property, how do I formulate the catalog search parameters? I've tried: Catalog(meta_type='something', booleanProperty='false') and Catalog(meta_type='something', booleanProperty=0) and a couple of other variations. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. simple DTML question ...

It's 12:30 am and I've been Zoping for 15 hours without a break. I just ran into a problem that can be pared down to the following example ... Create a DTML method: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var "foobar(year='chosen_year')"> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> and try to render it where foobar is another DTML method: <input type=text name="<dtml-var year>:int" value='<dtml-var "ZopeTime()" fmt="%Y">'> I suspect the source of my misunderstanding can be put in an even simpler example. If foobar contains only <dtml-var "ZopeTime()"> then calling foobar via <dtml-var "foobar"> returns the unevaluated DTML. Why is this? I wandered through Amos' "Advanced DTML" How-To but I'm not thinking clearly. I can probably figure it out tomorrow but I would dearly love to awake in the morning and find the source of my confusion awaiting in my Inbox. Cheers, darran. Site-wide (global) variables ...

I'm looking for advice on implementing site-wide (global) variables in Zope. That is, I want certain variables to be accessible to every folder, ZClass, method and document in the ZODB. Should I simply add these properties to the root folder and then make use of aquisition or is there a more elegant approach (say a globals singleton object that lives in the root)?

Hi James, If you sort by modification time in reverse order and set batchsize to 1 then I think you'll get the latest instance. Example: <dtml-in "Catalog.searchResults()" sort=bobobase_modification_time reverse size=1> ... </dtml-in> I'm not sure it's the best way, though. Hello, I have something want to ask you. I have Z SQL Method call view(select * from HoIn). How can I access one column from the database? I had tried:    But I can't do what I want. The HoIn database is created by: create table(Magazine_name varchar) Please tell me, I have other method to access one column from the database or what's wrong of the above method.
