Hi, I'm not realy new into Zope but suddenly found a strange question. I'm not shure where the problem is: - on a form a user can choose a checkbox and the value is stored into xtype - in the next document I can access the value of xtype with <dtml-var xtype> the correct value is printed out. - but if I do a check like <dtml-if "xtype ==1"> I get no matching. ZMySQLDA problem after following HOW TO...

I followed the directions in the How-To by alanpog. Everything seemed to go along well. I restarted and checked the control panel only to find a 'broken' installation... Here is the Traceback... Hello again, folks! Thank you for the very prompt reply, previously. Everything is fine and dandy now: the ghost of coin_rond_bleu has stopped haunting me. :-) I have another problem now. Restarting Zope seems to be a tad risky. I always get a traceback immediately after hitting the button. Twice out of three tries, the restarting did not work. The first time, Zope was simply dead. I was just starting out, and assumed I had done something wrong. Maybe I did. The second time, Zope re-started, but would not operate properly. passing lists in forms

How do you destinguish between items in a list when submitting a form? I know to use "name:list" in the form, but when actually entering the data, should it be comma seperated, or return seperated or "['itemone'], ['itemtwo']" or what??? If I want to use say comma seperated items, does there need to be a bit of python to convert the text into a list? -ed-

Hi! I think I have a bug to report. I am in the process of making my first Zope web-site, so I do not know much about Zope yet, but I will try to explain as clearly as I can anyway. I have a folder, /Foo (actual name removed), which contains the actual project. Everything related to that site is in there, normally. In that folder, I have redefined standard_html_header and such, and created a few subfolders. One such is /Foo/FooImages. In it, I put all of my site-wide images. About half an hour ago, I added a small image in there: coin_rond_bleu. It was a blue rounded "corner" for a table. Since I was fighting with the Gimp at the time to get that "corner" just right, I had to delete the thing and re-import it from my home a few times. Eventually, I got frustrated. Modifications I was making in the Gimp did not seem to affect what I saw in Zope. I eventually deleted /Foo/FooImages/coin_rond_bleu once more, and re-imported the image as /Foo/FooImages/coin_rond_bleu2. That actually worked. It seems that petit_coin_rond, even when officially "deleted" by Zope, still survives somehow, and haunts my database. Ghastly. Now, if I import an image under /Foo/FooImages/petit_coin_rond, viewing it shows me the ghost of petit_coin_rond, get this, *scaled* to the size of the image I imported. The upshot, of course, is I can easily create blue rounded corners of all shapes and sizes... :-) Is there any way to kill it? Is this a known bug? Whats the best way to Automatically Start Zope Server on bootup?? I have SuSE 6.2 system. I am having some trouble (newbie, sorry) deciding what the best way to start it up automatically. Docs say boot.local, but it stops the process. Do I run it as daemon? If so how? In background?? Not sure. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

First, login as root. cd to /sbin/init.d/ and copy 'skeleton' to, say, 'zope' or whatever you want to call the script file. Edit the zope file with your favorite text editor. Change all instances of 'START_FOO' to 'START_ZOPE'. Then in the start) and stop) sections, uncomment (remove the "#" on that line) the startproc and killproc lines. Depending on how you've got your system setup, you'll need to figure out what goes here. If you're running ZServer so you'll want to put the path to Zope's start and stop scripts where skeleton has /sbin/foo. In the reload) section, uncomment the "$0 stop && $0 start || return=$rc_failed" line. The status) section is the same as you've done to start) and stop). I don't think probe) applies here so leave it as it is. Save this file and exit the editor. Test it by calling /sbin/init.d/zope start, /sbin/init.d/zope stop and /sbin/init.d/zope status. Once that's working, the next step is to create a symbolic link from the zope file you've created to one of the runlevel directories. I'd put mine in rc2.d as that's a logical place to start services such as Zope. cd to /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/ and type ln -s ../zope S22zope and then ln -s ../zope K22zope These files will be called when your system stops and starts providing an environment variable has been defined. So, the final step is to define that variable. cd to /etc and edit rc.config. Make a backup if you're new to manually tweaking this file as if you mess it up, your system may not boot! Scroll down and somewhere just after all the START_* entries, put # # Start Zope Daemon? (yes/no) # START_ZOPE=yes If you want to disable Zope when your system starts or stops, you can now use yast to toggle the Yes or No entry. If you upgrade SuSE to another release, be sure to keep a copy of the zope shell file and /etc/rc.config. I don't think the move from 6.2 -> 6.3 messes anything up but you never know. If yast replaces the files, you'll need to edit them again. Probably the worst case is yast might strip out your edits to rc.config but this is unlikely. Good luck! Cheers, Jules

Not quite getting server side include type behaviour on items in child folders. child folders.

Hello Zopistas. I'd like to be able to organize some content in logical child folders and then include that content in a parent DTML method. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get it just right. For instance, the DTML document "foo" simply contains the following: I am foo. If I include this DTML document in the same or parent folder as my method and reference it, no problems. Typing <dtml-var foo1> spits out the contents of foo with the HTML paragraph tags intact. God bless Acquisition! Child folders is where I'm bumping in to things. If I create a "bar" child folder and cut/paste "foo" in there, no luck. <dtml-var bar.foo> barfs with a KeyError traceback. Putting quotes around it grabs the file but turns things like "I am foo." into "I am foo.". And foo doesn't work as a method rather than a document, either. I'm obviously doing something wrong.
