Simple security puzzle

Hi, I just made a simple method to make a list of all sub folders that have a "description" attribute: <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues(['Folder'])" skip_unauthorized> <dtml-if "_.has_key('description')"> <a href="<dtml-var URL1>/<dtml-var id>"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> <dtml-var description>   </dtml-if> </dtml-in> ...This works great, and saves a lot of work. The problem: Some sub folders require certain roles or users for access. And of course, I want these subfolders included in the listing - when the user clicks on them, they'd get asked to log in... But, with the above method, any sub folders that require a different role than anonymous don't get shown at all. If I remove "skip_unauthorized", then I get a security exception, apparently when trying to access the sub folder attributes. To me, it looks like I want the equivalent of a unix setuid program - the anonymous user runs my method, and my method runs with different permissions. Any suggestions? Thanks, - Robb

Expiring sessions

Hi all, I'm using SQLSession, and would love to expire a session, but don't know how to do so. My situation is this. I have an app with a "welcome" screen with links to a number of other pages that have various functionality. As long as my user has a "current" session open, I want to keep session management running, but if they leave the browser and come back then I want to force a new session. I don't really know how best to do that as the main screen is displayed regularly in "normal" operations, I can't clear my session everytime that that page displays. I also need to know what the best method of clearing out the SQL DB. is when a session expires. Thanks. -- Stand Fast, tjg. This resulted on an Ultrasparc in an executiontime of 10 CPU seconds, on a Sparc 20 it took more than a minute with a CPU load of nearly 100 %. I implemented the above in Class for the SQL-method, so the above was replaced by <dtml-var xyz> with xyz being a method of the class, which produced the same output as above. Besides being much more clear, cause it's pure Python, it takes now less than 0.5 CPU seconds on the Ultrasparc. Restart bug is still there!

Hi! What is the status of the "restart bug"? CHANGES.txt for 2.1.3 says: "- Fixed a bug that caused Zope to sometimes hang instead of shutting down or restarting when accessed over a fast network." In the Collector however, an item about this bug exist, and is "under review"... And it is still here for me. I'm usually using the latest CVS version, but I just downloaded 2.1.3 and that makes no difference. Hitting restart may restart, do nothing, or crash Zope. I remember Martijn Faassen having the same problem. Martijn? Raising an error when uncataloging an absent id was not the proper thing to do, so I removed it in CVS, in fact I believe 2.1.3 has this fixed. -Michel
