problem with ZCatalog

Hi, I'm having some problems getting my ZCatalog to work. I have a number of objects in the catalog, which are indexed using a number of FieldIndex and TextIndex indexes. This seems to work, however I am having trouble with the TextIndex. It appears to only index words up until an occurrence of the word 'not', and ignores any words in the property after that. It seems weird that noone has noticed this before, so maybe I have made an error in my code but it seems unlikely. I am inheriting from ZCatalog and the FieldIndexes behave as expected, it's just the TextIndex that stuffs up. Zope and IIS

I'm trying to get my Zope installation to work with IIS. I've read various items from the mailing lists and I've read the how-to's and I still can't get it to work correctly. The closest I've come is getting the Zope welcome screen. I've never been able to see any contents of my site. I think I've followed the process correctly. 1. I have a zope.pcgi file in my IIS scripts directory. 2. I have the pcgi-wrapper.exe file in this directory as well. 3. I've configured IIS to have a mapping between .pcgi and pcgi-wrapper.exe 4. I've reconfigured my zope startup to include a -p c:\inetpub\scripts\zope.pcgi parameter 5. I've modified by access file to just be of the following format: <domain>/<userid>: The domain is uppercase and the userid is how it was defined in the user manager. 6. I've set the permissions on the zope.pcgi file to disable anonymous but activated basic and challenge/response. 7. I've restarted Zope and IIS (several times) When I try to use access my site with http://foo.com/scripts/zope.pcgi I am prompted for a password, but I never authenticate. I eventually get a "You are not authorized to access this resource" traceback page (fails at line 551 in HTTPResponse.py) What am I missing? How can I debug this configuration? Assuming that I can make this work, I have a couple other configuration questions: 1. Is there a way to make a particular folder in Zope the default page for my web site? I want people to be able to go to http://foo.com and have that really access something like http://foo.com/RootName/StartingPoint. 2. How do you configure access to this site? I want to provide my customer with limited access to particular folders. Do they need to have an account in the NT Domain on which the server is running? If I want anybody to be able to access certain portions of the site for viewing only how do I configure Zope and IIS? In other words, I want to have one or more users with some sort of content control capability, but everyone else just sees a web site (no folders, no knowledge that this is Zope). I'm pretty sure I know how to do this if I just use ZServer, but I'm not sure what I need to do to configure this for IIS. I'm going out on a limb recommending that my company user Zope for a potentially key customer. I'm confident that the environment itself will support the customers needs, but I need to be able to show that the system can actually work in a production environment. Thanks for any and all help. Let's do the Time Warp again!

How are the modification times of Zope objects reckoned? I was wondering how to set the last-modified field in the response. I have a folder with some objects and subfolders that will be displayed in text or dtml-tree formats. If I use "lynx -head" to look at the folder, I get the modification date of index_html. If I look at the 'page info' page in me navigator, it has no mod time info at all. If I print bobobase_modification_time in index_html, I get the mod time of the folder, the time an object was added to, or deleted from, the folder, or when a property was changed. Two questions: 1) I plan to scan the folder and use the mod time of the youngest object in the folder as the mod time of the overall folder object with REQUEST.setHeader('Last-Modified',max(datetimes[]). How do I get the mod time from objects in general? Bobobase_modification_time is a string, I'd like to get the value that bobobase_etcetera stringifies. 2) It seems that the ZServer response to HEAD requests involves some initiatives that are not taken with ordinary GET reqests to the same object. Is there any way to make it consistent with what I do for 1), or will it override my methods for reporting the mod time of my objects? je -- Urbane guerilla in the mist

Python Method

Hi, Someone has told me that if I wanted to access object in the filesystem, I had to use External Methods instead of use the local filesystem Zope Product. When I was seeing something in python, to can write the code, I went to the zope page and I discorery a Product that is like the External Method, that product was the Python Method that let us write the code python and let us access to the filesystem as the same way as the External Method. What I wanted is that, if someone as tryed this product, or External Method, because the code un Python is the same, if can help me in one thing. I have one folder in the filesystem that I want to access. I'm using the OPEN, to can open the folder and I want to read the content of that folder. The code line is like: f = open('var/spool/news/articles','r') But unfortanelly, when I reun this and the rest of the code, it gives me a Syntax Error. I think that the error may be in this code line, because the otherones are correct. Can anyone tell me a way to access the content of the folder access? The other problem that I have is, I want to search in some text, that it is too in the filesystem, for some words. For example: I want to find in that file, the word From: and when he founds the word, he has to write the text after to a variable. The code that I'm using is: for lines in f.readline(): if string.find(line,'Form:'): from=lines return from Is this code correct? If anyone could help me, that would be great!!! ZOracleDA and Oracle8i

I have the oci_.so and Buffer.so of DCOracle built and tested. Yet when I do a simple select under the Test tab of the ZOracleDA database connection. select * from atable I get the following error. Products breaking other Products?

I just encountered a problem which scares me to some extent. I have developed my own product with my own set of ZClasses. In my Products folder I had my product, some other products and the PTKBase product. The version of the PTK was from a couple of weeks ago (or so). Yesterday I retrieved the latest PTK stuff from the CVS repository and updated the contents of my products directory with this version of PTK. Suddenly existing instances of ZClasses that I had created previously, were appearing as broken. They apparently couldn't find their product. I was confused by this, because I was able to add new instances of my ZClasses. After posting a message to the zope mailing list, I received a reply which suggested that perhaps a product unrelated to my product was causing a problem. Having nothing else to lose, I replaced my PTKBase with the old version of PTKBase. After restarting Zope my broken ZClasses were once again functioning. My question is this, why should a product unrelated to my product cause problems with my ZClasses? I feel a bit uncomfortable with the notion that one product can seemingly affect another. I don't believe any of my code relied on anything relating to the PTK. Can someone explain what might have happened? Thanks. James W. Logging on as a delegate ?

Sorry if this is a duplicate posting. I have set up a subfolder from my main site and added an admin user (called pam) to its acl_user document. How should pam logon ? I thought one should attempt to go to http://my.zope.server:8080/Sub_Folder/manage Is this right ? But from there I can only logon as the super user. I have checked the acl_user, deleted and reinstated the user a couple of times. This is probably a very simple problem, but I just can't see it. Thanks in advance Keith
