How to fix a "broken" object?

Much to my dismay, for some reason I have some classes in my Zope environment which are "broken". The message I get when I try to access them is: "This object is broken because the unknown product that created it is no longer installed or is installed incorrectly. [...]" The confusing thing is that the product which created them exists and looks just fine. In addition, I can create new instances of the the ZClass which is giving me problems. If I look at the source of the error message, I notice that it says the following: "This object's class was IssueFolder in module *TOT0ABbYdW6zGJxy0BmF4g==." I looked at my product, and the class id for IssueFolder is TOToABbYdW6zGJxy0BmF4g==. I'm confused as to what I might have done to cause this problem. If this were a production system I would be really concerned. As it is, I'm concerned about putting Zope into production if there is some easy way to break things. Does anybody have any tips or ideas on what may have happened? I'm going to poke around the source code to see if I can find any clues, but if anyone else has experienced this sort of problem and knows how to fix it I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. I've never used manage_changeProperties. I wonder how manage_changeProperties knows that you want it to change the cd_info property sheet. Maybe you should look into that angle. Create a product or just copy?

I have created a folder called TestProject that contains a number of other folders including one which contains a bug tracking database front end. I would like to have users (managers) be able to create a new Project which would basically entail copying over the TestProject hierarchy, setting some properties and setting up user lists. Can this be down by making this TestProject a 'Product'? If so, how should I proceed? Simpler for me, but more hassle for the user would be to maintain a clean Project hierarchy that could simply be copied and renamed. HELP: Very frequent Zope restarts

HELP Please. Anyone who is using Zope in production or has experienced Zope restarting itself. Is Zope restarting itself a common event under a loaded system? Does anyone have a way to track down what may be the cause of a "crash"? We have Zope up in production serving 8 sites and whenever we get a request rate approaching 5/sec Zope decides to shutdown and restart. Nothing is reported in the zope_msg.log, /Control_Panel/manage_debug does not reveal anything interesting, and DebugLogger has not been very helpful. Our configuration is Apache in front using mod_rewrite w/ mod_fcgi, Zope 2.1.3. I've just patched FCGIServer.py so that DebugLogger will dump some information about FCGI connections - hoping this will shed some light on what may be happening. Autohandlers like in Mason ...

Hi, I am trying to convert a HTML::Mason powered site into Zope powered site. It uses autohandlers heavily so that any HTML file uploaded would get a header and footer and some other nifty features. I know that you can define standard_header and footer to do similar things in Zope. But it means people need to include them using DTML in the files. I am wondering if there is a way to force all the content under a particular folder or path to go through an auxiliary program. In the minimal case, I would be satisfied with something like Apache::Sandwich. I would like to know if there is some product that does what I want. Thanks, Rama

Adding ZClass Instances via DTML

hello, I try to add a new instance of a simple zclass "BuchClass" via dtml. Calling a ZSQL methods from an external method

Would someone who is successfully calling a ZSQL methods from an external method mind dropping me their recipe? ZODBCDA Test tab doesn't work - Fix

Previous posts to this mailing list have noted that the Test tab on an ODBC database connection doesn't work (it gives a unpack sequence of wrong size error). Help ZClasses and Properties.

I'm trying to figure out how to use ZClasses and I found myself having problems with the manage_changeProperties for a property of the Class I made. I followed the ZDG ZClass tutorial and created the CDProduct the CDClass, set the property sheet and the class seems to be working ok but I can not for my life get the manage_changeProperties to update the properties of the instance of myCD in the root folder. I can change the properties with the Properties tab of the instance but not through DTML with the line: <dtml-call "myCD.manage_changeProperites({'title':'this title', 'artist':'this artist', 'description':'this desc'})"> It doesn't give me an error or anything it just dont change any property values.
