This is possible, but possibly complex. Essentially, you would make the image an imagemap, keep track of where the user clicked, zoom in on the area and send the new image. I can handle this part. Yet, performance might suck, here is why. Photo would have to fork to call Imagemagick to resizing, therefore the overhead for resizing will be high and performance will be slow. To speed this up, a python to Imagemagick native interface will be needed. There is an immature one in existance. External Method

Hi, I think that I will have to use External Method to have access to Local File System. Untill now, I was using the Zope Product: Local FileSystem, but because I'm having some difficulties to make this work like the way I want, I would like to ask, if somebody, could tell me the code that I must use to make that the External Method access the Local Filesystem. I know that this External Methods use Python. I'm asking for this because I'm new with Zope. Thanks, Pedro

Access to file content

Hi, I want to be able to display some information from a file, that is also in a local filesystem. As you know, the messages that we send to eachothers are sent in mime type and when the are display in our screen, only is showed the Subject, >From who, the Date and the content of that message. Why nobody asked this before??? Look at Kevin Dangoor's KM|NetNews Product for a nice take on this. The outline of the solution is to define a method 'index_html' within your ZClass (not inside each instance!). This method "stitches together" the properties of the object to present its "default view". The key problem is to get the "body" property to be rendered using the DTML engine, but filled out using the properties of the main object. Here is a Python ExternalMethod (add it to the ZClass) which does the trick:: from DocumentTemplate import HTML def render_dtml( self, string_property ): """ """ return HTML( string_property, self.__dict__ )() You can then use this within the ZClass' instance_html as: <dtml-var "render_dtml( body )"> In fact, I don't see why this shouldn't be available as one of the 'fmt=' options for dtml-var, like so:: <dtml-var body fmt=render-dtml> This would require adding another entry to the 'special_formats' dictionary in DocumentTemplate/DT_Var.py and another method. (Later: Ugh! that is harder to muck with than it looks! I don't have time to chase it down, I'm afraid. Peculiar effects with SQL tree

I have a dtml-tree which is getting its tree data from an sql method: <dtml-let oid="0"> <dtml-tree id='oid' branches_expr="sqlSelect_treeParent(parent_id=oid)"> <B><dtml-var name></B> <dtml-var oid> </dtml-tree> </dtml-let> However, with only a small amount of data in the tree table this is behaving in a very strange way, where clicking on expand/collapse links will have random effects, either doing nothing expanding/collapsing a random part of the tree or, occasionall, doing what it should do. can't log in to manage

I am using RedHat 6.0. I first installed the Zope 1.10.3 rpm package for python 1.5.1. I found that the server ran....the example site popped up, and the quickstart works just fine....but I can not log in to manage zope. I checked the /var/local/zope/access file, and edited it correctly, then restarted /etc/rc.d/init.d/zope. I checked permissions on it. Everything looked like it should......but i could not log in to the /manage I decided to go ahead and update python to 1.5.2.....then I removed the Zope rpm package, and installed Zope 2.1.2 thinking that should fix it......wrong!!!! Same thing....... I did find the zpasswd ....it edited the /var/zoipe/access(yes, I did figure out it had moved :-)) and it encrypted my new password....this is a nice new feature. I still can't log in though. I left the domain completely off.....I put in a :*, I've tried everything. I've now tried removing that rpm, and downloading the source rpm for 2.1.2 I did a rpm --rebuild.... then installed every rpm but the Zope-pcgi......(I'm wanting to run it on 8080) I still get the same thing.........] Now my hair is gray...and coming out. creating new role in DTML

Hello, I am trying to create a new role with a DTML document like this: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('role', 'myrole')"> <dtml-call "manage_defined_roles( 'Add Role', REQUEST )"> unfortunately this doesn't seem to create a new role, nor does it produce an error message. What am I doing wrong? --Oliver
