In an effort to know when an instance deleted of my class, and not just when the reference count equal's zero, I did some digging in the Zope code, and found that if I create a function called manage_beforeDelete, this does exactly what I need.. It gets called before before the object gets deleted from Zope.. Now question is, is this safe to do, overriding this function? I wouldn't want to corrupt ZODB or whatever... Anyone have an opinion on this?

We need a couple more data points before we can blame Zope for this or understand possibly what is happening. If I do a method called namespace that I call with namespace?site=test, like so: <dtml-with billing> <dtml-with "_[site]"> <dtml-var title_or_id> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> (<dtml-var "_[site]"> does render test properly.) The title_or_id is the title of billing, not of test. if I do <dtml-with billing> <dtml-with test> <dtml-var title_or_id> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> it prints properly. That method returns the content-type header from the file uploaded if provided, otherwise it tries to guess. ZWiki

Hi, Can somebody give me the light on the ZWiki websites? I don't understand them. What do they, what make them so important? I think I've read all the links which send me to ZWiki, but still I don't see why they are so important. I see DC asking for visiting a ZWiki page (on API?) and elaborate... but sorry I don't see it, it looks spaghetti to me, certainly with the strange names given to a ZWiki page (no offense). Perhaps, some little more explenation would give me the light. Or perhaps a clearer organisation (with easy to understand title-links) would improve an overall ZWike page. Can somebody shine a light? slow site

Hey everyone, My Web site is acting very sluggish, and I wonder if someone has an explanation or suggestion. I'm running Zope 2.1.6 behind Apache. Apache is also serving a number of other very low traffic virtual hosts. My site, also, is very low traffic. The "server" is a cast-off IBM Pentium 120 desktop machine w/ 32 MB RAM and 4.3 GB IDE drive. The server is on a T1 connection our school's ISP. The site address is http://www.isd197.k12.mn.us/ Notice in particular the long delay while the browser is contacting the host. Everything loads pretty quickly once the page starts appearing. A non-Zope, purely static page on the same server, http://www.comed.isd197.k12.mn.us/, loads much more quickly. Site notes: The Slashdot-esque news items are being gathered from the ZCatalog for display and the headlines on the right are generated via Amos's RSSChannel and XMLDocument products. Zope and Linux/Unix permissions

Hi, I have installed Zope 2.1.6 in Red Hat Linux 6.2 box. I followed the How-To installing and Upgrading Zope 2.x. No problems expect when I try to run a method of a Python Class that is used as Z base class. My method works fine with the python interpreter. However when I tried it within Zope i get Error Value: [Errno 13] Permission denied I have been trying many things to solve this problem (changing permissions of the directory i want to accesss to, of the module, ...). What is the right thing to do? It has surely more to do with the Unix permissions but i don't know to solve this problem. png content type woe

Zope bless Zopistas! Recently, I've been converting GIF Images into png Images, and found something wired, i.e. The Content Type of the png Images are set to "image/x-png" not to "image/png" Yes, this causes problem on *some* of the clients not on *all* of them and I can *manually* reset the content type to the official "image/png". That said, I shall have lots of png images, so resetting manually is simply not a viable option. Furthermore, even though, I've browsed the sources of Zope and python 1.5.2 modules, failed to find the root of this problem. 1) Does anyone have the same problem(or phenomena)? I've seen this from two instances of Zope, Zope 2.1.2 on redhat 6.1 and Zope 2.1.6 on Win98, both are binary install. If somebody else see this, too, I'll file this into Collector. 2) What might cause this problem? Any ideas? LEE Kwan Soo.
