Hi there I know there's probably a really simple answer to this but I can't see it for looking. I've made an ODBC connection to a Access 97 database and am trying to run the following query: select ph_user, ph_location, ph_directno, ph_extension, ph_mobile_ext from tblPhone where ph_user matches '*John*' order by 1 but get the following error: Error, sql.error: ('37000', -3100, "[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver] Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'ph_user matches '*John*''.") Ideally, I would like to be able to search against a table for ph_user using their first name only and return all the other fields. Would appreciate any advice. We're using Zope 1.10.3 Thanks Jenny

What a pain. 1) Installing new kernels on headless boxes is not for the faint of heart. However, it can be done. What I've done is to compile a new kernel and put it on a floppy, and reboot the machine so it loads from the floppy. if it does a crash-and-burn, just pop out the floppy and reboot. Also, see if echo ^g > /dev/console will beep. If so you can at least use this (in lots of the /etc/rc.d stuff) to find out how far you get. 1.1) In many Linux systems the ftp module is a loadable/unloadable module. So you MIGHT be able to recompile it to use the other address. But that would screw up regular ftp access. Yuck. 2) I understand that you are behind an IP Masq box, but what is at the other end? Can you set up a vpn (there are some vpn setups that use ssh) so you have complete access to the other side? That would allow you to work around the IP Masq problem. 3) Another approach is to simply work from the IP Masq box itself. If you can get emacs with X running on the IP Masq box, but displaying back to your headfull (is that a word) machine, you can edit using the ftp interface. You could even, perhaps, run netscape on the IP Masq box and redirect the display back to your desktop. Gotta love X. Good luck. There's gotta be a solution. Let us know how things work out. -- cary

From what I can recall about what was mentioned, it seems that ZTopics would be just what the doctor ordered for my site. I'm wondering if someone from DC could give an update on the status of this project? problems with images and PIL

ZTables is going to die?

Otto's UserDB

Otto, I am having a really hard time changing your User DB class to do what I want. I want be able to enter other information besides: name password confirm domains roles like ssn, phone, email, etc. But if I change your addUsers.dtml class, the changes never appear. I stop zope, compress the db, clear the caches, remove the python compiles files (*.pyc), restart the database, remove and add a new user db, drive 20 miles to work ... nothing seems to work. Is there a better way? Or what am I doing wrong? Regards, Luis.
