strange, works for me... is the url parameter listed in the zsql method test_for_page_count (should appear in the "Arguments" field)? does it work if you set url to some fixed string eg. <dtml-in "test_page_count(url='some_url')"> ... hth peter. Zope parses all dtml object requests. Hence even if we have static html in a dtml object zope server parses every request of that object. Can we make a html page and include that in any part our dtml documents to reduce server parsing overheads? Thanks for the reply, - sree

Hello, I have a very weird problem. I am appending to a list a piece of data that I have retrieved from a ZSQLMethod within an external method. That piece of data happens to be type date. This is with Zope 2.4. Not if you put that "left bar navigation system" object in a RAM Cache. For example on zopezen I cache the entire right hand navigation. Security question

Hello, I have defined a new role. Zope is refusing me to add an object (of my own Python class), even if I check on all the permission settings for that role in the Security tab of the container folder (in a first step I turned only on some obvious permissions that role should have, but as Zope refused access to that role, I decided to try with setting on all the permission settings: it does not work better). Can someone help me and give some hints of why Zope is requiring that role to give password even when all permissions are checked on for that role ? Thanks in advance, Philippe Bocquillon

Nested properties

Hello, Zopistas, I just had a (for me) fantastic enlightenment, and I wanted you to participate. Long time ago, I (like so many other people here around) wondered whether it was possible to nest properties. I never solved the problem. Now, I had the same problem again, and I found a very simple solution: Say, we have two properties, prop1 and prop2, and I want to refer to either of those two props in a document. I want to determine to which I want to refer in a property of my document. So I simply create a document property myDocProp (string) and give it the value either prop1 or prop2. And here's the key: Instead of referring to myDocProp by <dtml-var myDocProp> do a simple <dtml-var "_.getitem(myDocProp)">. The only thing I still couldn't find out was how to put constant values in the property myDocProp. I tried 'my constant value' and some other things, didn't work. One non-optimal possibility could be to create a second doc prop, which carries the static value and then refer to that second doc prop from the first one. Perhaps somebody has a better idea? I would be happy about some feedback - perhaps this topic is even worth a mini how-to? the battle of pcgi

Hi, Found some more info! You better don't install Personal Web Server on your NT workstation when trying to get Zope running behind a web server through pcgi... (if your NT is running on NTFS)... Instead install the Peer Web Services of NT Workstation... (yes also a PWS). Urg, this I found out only recently... Now, I got most things done... the only strange thing is that when I try to access Zope through http://localhost/cgi-bin/Zope.pcgi I receive a Zope Site Error telling me that it can't find the resource : cgi-bin GET Why does Zope looks this up in it's ZODB and just doesn't displays the password dialog? Somebody an idea why Zope gives this error? Or where I might look for the problem? Thanks, Tom.
