I need to create a vCard generator in Zope that takes data from a form, and generates a vcard that opens(downloads thru browser) upon submit. I have seen a perl-cgi that mails a vcard from an HTML form. Has anyone seen this in Zope or created a product? TIA for any help not reinventing the wheel. Trevor

(Newbie) Tree based sitemap using Zope book example

Hi All, I am trying to develop a website that has a tree based site map on each page. I have used an example in the Zope book where an objects appearence in the sitemap depends on setting a property SiteMap and uses a small Python script to test whether the property has been set. The calling dtml method uses the following code:- <dtml-tree branches="PublicObjects" skip_unauthorized="1"> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-tree> which in turn calls the following script. """ Returns sub folders and DTML documents that have a true 'siteMap' property. """ results=[] for object in context.objectValues(['Folder', 'DTML Document']): if object.hasProperty('siteMap') and object.siteMap: results.append(object) return results This works fine in that context.objectValues(['Folder', 'DTML Document']) displays a tree based site map but of course creates it relative to the current folder object. For the life of me I can't work out how to change the script or the call so that the tree that is displayed is always the root tree or rooted in any specified arbitary folder. Is it possible to specify a context rather than the current one? - I presume it is I just don't understand Zope (or Python...) enough to work out how to do it... Zope is a fantastic product but my head is still spinning from the learning curve... All help appreciated. I have about the same problem: I want to get the current user name in a python script and put it there in a database. Allmost this works: user = container.REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName() But it rises an error if I want to print the user out: 'cannot add type "ImplicitAcquirerWrapper" to string' Any suggestions? regards Armin

Need help installing Zope on Mac OS X

A few years ago I managed to install Zope on one of my Linux boxes -- that is, I was able to stumble my way through and get it to work. And, recently, I installed a Zope binary on Windows 2000. That was a double-click piece of cake. But I have to admit David Shaw's Zope 2.4 package* for Mac OS X has me stumped. (I have email in to David requesting help and volunteering to help beta test his package but I'm going bananas waiting. : ) Has anyone out there successfully installed David's Zope_2.4_b2.sit on a Mac running OS X.1? Is zope undoing itself ?????????

Hai zope friends, Iam working on a zope project.Iam using CMF 1.1 also. Some times i get a feeling that zope has undone some actions and showing old files. For debugging some times i changed system dates .The actions done during this period may be newer or older.Is zope doing something with undo dates and loading old files accordingly when i start m system every day. Not your usual way to get into Zope...

Hi all, I have been keeping an eye on Zope development for a couple years, but never REALLY worked with it. Now I have been given a tarball of a Zope 1.10 application and given the job of making it run on a new server. It's running, using ZopeHTTPserver. Under /manage there are three Z Table Subcollections: kearney copy_of_kearney myTabula This appears to be a fairly simple application. Businesses can enter their information into the database through a form and users can search the database by Business Name, Keyword, or Business Catagory. /copy_of_kearney seems to work correctly (i think). It at least lets you search the current database without generating any errors. /kearney has added three External Methods and it appears that at least one of these is causing a problem. The three External Methods are named: stashSearchStats clearSearchStats and stats.txt When you select a Business Catagory and hit "Search" you get a page that contains the following TraceBack:  Can anyone give me a pointer on where to look for this problem? I suspect it is in the lastmost part: ReportHook.py as the External Method "stashSearchStats" has a Function Name of "Hook" and a Python Module Filename of "ReportHook". But what is the nature of the I/O error? Also, I noticed that the Zope-1.10 installation gave me another Python installation (it was already on the server as part of the RedHat 7.1 installation.) Is this a possible point of confusion, or does Zope know to look only within it's own directories for the Python and modules to use? Finally, are there any Zope equivalent of text.cgis that can return environmental variables and help me troubleshoot things? Many thanks for enduring this long post. Mega-thanks to any who respond! DTML Document namespace

I'm afraid this is a bit of a newbie question but I just can't seem to find the answer for this one. I have a DTML Document that calls a method. I want to see what the actual namespace name / value pairs are that are present for the method to use. Is there some way to do this. I have installed the ZDebug product but this lists the namespaces rather than the name / value pairs of each namespace. Best Regards, David Price
