Many thanks for the replies. I now have the DocumentLibrary product installed, as recommended by a few people here. I have come across one oddity with it so far though. For some reason, the 'approval' process only works if we select the 'Add Document' button from within the 'Documents' folder (the default document store that is included inside every new 'document library'). If we go via the default document_submit DTML method, then all docs are immediately made available, bypassing the approval stage completely. Anyone else using this?

Dear zope friends, we have developed a site using zope + CMF 1.1.WE installed zope on ISP where OS is Linux and Apache is exisiting server.We have to access thru apache. The ISP does not allow rewrite rule . We are running site on port 8080 and using PCGI.We have put zope.cgi in cgi-bin directory . Now we are accessing site at http://www.oursite.com/cgi-bin/zope/cmfsite Can you guys help me in getting site with URL http://www.oursite.com regards, Sudhakar

creating objects in python

Hi, In the constructor of a python product I put this code, I copied out of the doc : def addInstance(dispatcher, id, REQUEST=None): """ Create instance """ p=FILclass(id) dispatcher.Destination()._setObject(id, p) It works. Then from that code I "guessed" I could use it as this : # create an instance of another class u1 = Uclass('xxxx') # put u1 at the same level as "self" dispatcher.Destination()._setObject('xxx', u1) # create another instance of another class u2 = Uclass('yyyy') # put u2 inside folder "foldyy" getattr(dispatcher.Destination(),'foldyy')._setObject('yyyy', u2) ALL that code works fine. !!!!!!!! So what ? I would like to understand WHY it works. Can a zope guru explain : - what is this magic object dispatcher ? - I "guess" dispatcher.Destination() is something like PARENT[x] is it ? - is there other usefull functions applicable to dispatcher ? - Is this documented somewhere ? problem to rename folder

Hello, I have a little problem. I use this function to rename an object in my site (file or folder). It work perfectly with file but I have an error when I try to rename a folder .... newbie question about DTML IF

I'm trying to add a statement to my page that greets each user with a different statement, but i can't seem to work out how to do it. Just from reading some of the zope documentation i've tried: <dtml-if expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER = bob"> bob likes to eat fish </dtml-if> and <dtml-if expr="str(GetUser()) = bob"> bob likes to eat fish </dtml-if> Both of these are obviously very wrong, in the first case i thought it might have something to do with calling an object and trying to compare it to a string so in the second one i tried rendering it into a string, but evedently this isn't the correct way to do that. I'm new to both zope and python and I have a feeling I have the whole thing totally wrong. Would it be better to do this in python some how and store each users greeting in a dtml document? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks Myles

It appears that my problem was simply a permissions problem. I did not have the var folder and contents owned by "nobody". Silly me. Hope my forehead heals and I can get all the blood off of the brick wall. : ) This does not appear to be a very formidable Zope application. Does anyone have any suggestions for making the upgrade to the current version of Zope? Does one export/import the database? Since this is a Zope 1.10 application all of the DTML tags will have to change. Any other gotcha's or words of wisdom?
