howto call Py_Method w arguments from DTML-Document

i have a Zope 2.1.6 (py 1.5.2) [yes, it stinks, tell my boss] this means i have no "bindings" in Zopes Python Method Interface. i try to call from DTML-Document(s) Python Method(s) (which call ZSQL-Methods). Both Python Methods and ZSQL-Methods have Parameters. Using <dtml-call "Top_upd(_.None, _, arg_TI=TOP_ID, arg_tls=toplangs, arg_tns=topnames) "> gives Error Type: TypeError Error Value: keyword parameter redefined ...traceback ...lib/python/Products/PythonMethod/PythonMethod.py, line 168, in __call__ (Object: Top_upd) (Info: ((None, <TemplateDict object at 871cfd8>), {'arg_tns': ['DTML', 'DTML'], 'arg_tls': [1, 2], 'arg_TI': '1'}, None)) i dont understand this error message, i changed every formal argument to avoid name clashes. i have tried calling also with - ( this, _, kw-args) same, but different traceback...lib/python/Products/PythonMethod/PythonMethod.py, line 168, in __call__ (Object: Top_upd) (Info: ((<Python Method object at 8611590>, <TemplateDict object at 8672a98>), {'arg_tns': ['DTML', 'DTML'], 'arg_tls': [1, 2], 'arg_TI': '1'}, None)) TypeError: (see above) [aside: why "this" in a DTML-Document leads to <Py Meth Obj> i have no idea] - ( kw-args) The last leads to Error Type: NameError Error Value: TOP_ID_NAME_upd # <-- zsql-method ...lib/python/Products/PythonMethod/PythonMethod.py, line 168, in __call__ (Object: Top_upd) (Info: ((), {'arg_tns': ['DTML', 'DTML'], 'arg_tls': [1, 2], 'arg_TI': '1'}, None)) File <string>, line 16, in Top_upd NameError: (see above) a) Is there a definite how-to/reference for calls of anything callable from anything able to call including parameter passing b) what have i made wrong and how to do it right?

It could be that there is a problem with the dtml displaying the results on the test page. This happens the same with the MySQL DA. Haven't found time to look at it, but I guess it won't be that big of a problem. I'm almost sure it is because of an error in the dtml, since it works (at least with MySQL) as it should when creating your own browsing method. Broken "Advanced" Tab on ZSQL methods?

Hi all, this might be attributable to a site-configuration error... but I would appreciate any insight. I am running Zope-2.4.1, with DCOracle2 Beta 5 (ZOracleDA) compiled against python 2.1.1 headers and my version of Oracle (8.1.7.0.1), and when I click on the 'Advanced' tab of a ZSQL method, I get the error and traceback listed at the end of this message. For what it is worth, I have upgraded my Zope from 2.3 to 2.4 and I used to have the 'Photo' product installed. Wade, I think this is correct, depending upon how FreeTDS has progressed with later support fro MSSQL. Hopefully the Unix ODBC route goes well for you. Let the list know if it does. This has always been something I have been curious about, but never had to work with. ZOPE 2.4.1 and ODBC drivers report incorrect records

Hi. I am using NT4 Zope 2.4.1 and Microsoft Access on a laptop computer. My problem is that the when searching for records and displaying them it reports incorrects values. The database is fairly small (only 2,000 records). When I test the number of records using the ODBC Connection TEST button it also INCORRECTLY displays the records. For example, it will display only 50 records and then when you choose to display the next 50 it produces an error message. I have compacted and repaired the database and reindex it. What is the problem?

acces an object in a folder without Tranparent Folders

Hello List, maybe it is a newbe question but I think you´ll forgive me :-)) !! I created a folder called IMGAES and in this folder an image object -- IMAGENAME. How can I access this image. With Transparent Folders it doesn´t matter. I used <dtml-var IMAGENAME> But without I get some errors when I use that. I`m sure someone knows an awnser. Thaks in advance Florian

How good is Zope?

Hi All, I've just stumbled across Zope looking for a platform I can develop web-based Db apps under, and having worked through the first couple of chapters and the tutorial it's all looking pretty rosy so far... I have previously set up some small web-based Db's using PHP4 and MySQL, but need something where several developers can work on one project in an organised fashion, so Zope seems to provide in an easier-to-use fashion. I notice from the help files that Zope bills itself as an alternative to PHP - can I integrate PHP into it or do I not need it if we have Python? I've never programmed in Python, but it seems fairly straightforward and not too removed from other scripting languges. My question really, I spose, before I dive in and start writing things, is how good is Zope? Does it have any obvious limitations? What's the support like? I subscribed to this group about 12 hours ago and seem to have a healthy number of messages, so it looks pretty well supported - is this 'cause Zope is great, or are you all unfortunate victims that have somehow got locked in and now can't get out?!! I would like to be a Zope success story, but here is the situation(about which I appeal to you for help/zope hope)I am the owner of a small trucking brokerage in Annapolis, MD. We hired a local evening programmer to build an internet brokerage weblication for us(his word). After a full year and a half we are all on line today and it is failing miserably. We called in a reputable company from the area and they tell us the problem is the platform. Our programmer insists that Zope can support our business and these are the kinks of a new use. Who can I speak with that will vehemently defend Zope for our use since we have already spent all of our money and too much of our time. We think maybe there is a key that we are missing. But, none of us are programmers, you see, which is why we relied on the suggestions of someone who is. We are trucking people, we use keys to start things.
