CoreSessionTracking: save file object

Can i save a file object <input type="file" name="file"> to CoreSessionTracking? I have a :records which I convert to a list of dictionaries. The net result is: [{'description':'Elvis','file':<file instance>},{'description':'Madonna','file':<file instance>},...] When I try to save this to CST, I get Unpickleable Error: cannot pickle objects. -- Milos Prudek

Question about Zope dev methods vs Tomcat dev methods

I've been experimenting with different web dev methods for about a year now. I started with plain old perl/cgi. I got annoyed (rather quickly) and went to a perl module templating system, then apache mod_perl, then perl HTML::Mason for mod_perl and now Zope/ZPT. So far I haven't seen anything as decoupled between HTML presentation and logic as Zope/ZPT. I'm debating if I should try to install Tomcat and experiment with it myself (I dunno java well which is a problem) My question is if anyone out there has used Tomcat and switched Zope (or vice versa), I would like to know why you switched? Thanks for any info

where is 'png4' which is required for installation?

OR is this a problem with FreeBSD? I've tried about everything I can think of to get this installed on FreeBSD/i386 (although it seems to be properly installed in FreeBSD/Alpha,I gave up trying to get it to actually **work** on the Alpha after I got no reply to questions about it) thanks, craig craig(a)cheetahusa.net

Bug creating a Product ???

This is very strange, like if something had corrupted my zope (linux Zope 2.4.2 binary) When I "Add Product" in /Control_Panel/Products , enters a name and push the submit button, I get this message: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. I am using manage_delObjects method directly over the object. IMHOP it should be so. your joking, right... besides the fact that excessive locking kills performance and scalability, i *know* i don't want to have to litter my code with locks and thinking about concurrency. the zodb greatly mitigates concurrency issues, making them almost non-existent for most code. moving from this paradigm to some application level locking paradigm greatly complicates code and would make it damm near impossible to be productive with zope, IMO. The Cookie Crumbler product

Hello, folks; In our recent migration of our Zope-based Intranet from a stand-alone Zope install to one use Zope+PCGI+IIS, we seem to have everything set up and working fine except for one oddity. Previously, I had used the CookieCrumbler product to authenticate users of the Intranet, which worked very nicely. Now that we've moved behind IIS, it seems that the CookieCrumbler can't give cookies to the users anymore. At first I was going to blame the new setup for "stripping off" cookies, but then realized that I can still successfully receive cookies from both the tree-navigation <dtml-tree> menu we have as well as the management interface. I then tried to follow the tact that perhaps something had happened to my CookieCrumbler during the migration, so went directly to zope via port 8080. Here, authentication worked perfectly. I'm going to assume that the CookieCrumbler delivers cookies in a different fashion than items built directly into Zope... and so, is it possible to change this behavior? Passing parameters from python to dtml objects..

hi all, I am currently working on a python script that is called from a dtml method. It performs some logic and then calls another dtml method. I am passing 2 parameters into the python script, "hidden_photo" and "photo_name"..my python script looks like this... if photo_name == ' ': if hidden_photo == ' ': return context.scReport(context) elif hidden_photo == 'None': return context.scReport(context) else: return context.Thumbnails.deletePhoto(context) return context.scReport(context) elif photo_name =='None': return context.scReport(context) else: return context.Thumbnails.photoAction(context) return context.scReport(context) The methods photoAction and deletePhoto need to be passed the parameters "hidden_photo" and "photo_name" - however it dosn't seem to be getting them properly- this is the error message Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'photo_name' is not defined Can anyone tell me how properly to pass parameters from python to dtml objects? ExtFile and fsimport?

Hi all, Anybody who succeeded in adapting ExtFile and fsimport.py (or another batch import script) for importing files as new ExtFile instances? Spent a few hours trying to get it to work, but my Python knowledge apparently ain't that deep yet. Pointers? Thnx, Jonathan
