INSTANCE_HOME and inituser

My experiments with multiple instances using INSTANCE_HOME (etc.) have convinced me that each INSTANCE_HOME should probably have its own inituser, either created freshly or copied from wherever var/Data.fs was copied from (SOFTWARE_HOME, another instance, etc.). Otherwise you end up not being able to log in to ZMI as the admin user. I haven't seen this documented anywhere. Should it be? -- --- Mitchell

zsql-methods and zope variables

hi, i am relatively new to zope(and html). i wanted a tool i would use to develop a web based patient record management system and i decided to use zope and postgresql. i need to pass a number of variables to a zsql query. so far i have only been able to pass variables from the form on a web page that calls the zsql method. i need to pass a number of variables whos values are entered in seperate forms in a frameset or alternatively i need to preserve the variables over a succession of forms. can anyone help? also how valueble is javascript in conjunction with dtml. riyadh Make a difference, help support the relief efforts in the U.S. http://clubs.lycos.com/live/events/september11.asp

INSTANCE_HOME and products that patch Zope

What do people do if they are using a multiple-instance Zope setup (INSTANCE_HOME, etc.) and want to use a product that patches Zope code, such as TransparentFolders? Are there just not that many products that do that? Do they just install the product in SOFTWARE_HOME? In other words, the multiple-instance mechanism supports Products and Extensions in each instance, but not Zope patches. Seems to me you'd want that so you could experiment with patches (including, perhaps, hotfixes) without interfering with the production Zopes running off the same SOFTWARE_HOME. -- --- Mitchell

How do I edit the title of a DTML Document via emacs ftp? Google gave me nothing on this. -- Troubled day for virgins over 16 who are beautiful and wealthy and live in eucalyptus trees.

Kamal, I'm by no means an expert, but maybe your log-file/directory/filesystem structure has been corrupted? I.e. for me it doesn't look like there's something wrong with your Data.fs. You could rename your Z2.log and try to start again. Another option might be to install another zope and copy your Data.fs and your self-installed products over. cheers, oliver

need help implementing ftp_get et all

Hi there, I try to implement a webdav interface to the Photo product. I can get a photo (which is named like 'abc.jpg') trough dreamweavers WebDAV interface. I always could do that, even before my "improvements". However I can not put the files back. I did add a print statement to the two functions I added. They never produce any output. What am I doing wrongly? pqrsing with sax

Hi, I am new to zope, and find it difficult to get around errors. zope server crashed!!!

Hi, I was working on my laptop when I discovered that my battery was completely down and before I could plugged in my charger the system was down. What happened next was that I could not access my zope server again. Each time I run the start.bat file it display the normal info as if it has ran the server but if i try to log on to the server after accepting my username and password it will display "the page cannot be displayed" So when i checked the start.bat this is what it's display Asynchart. getitem doesn't return source code, when used with index_html

Hello, I've written a documentation for my Zope-project, and I want to include the source-codes of the DTML-files I wrote. I'm using the 'getitem'-function to accomplish this and it works with all DTML-documents and -methods, except index_html (which is a DTML-method). Here's how I did it: My project consists of the following directories (among others): /fb/ /fb/docu/ 'docu' contains a DTML-method "ProgDocu". That method contains the following source-code: -------------------- [...] <dtml-with fb only> <dtml-var ShowDTMLFiles> </dtml-with> [...] -------------------- ShowDTMLFiles is a DTML-method in the folder 'docu'. Here's an excerpt: -------------------- <table border="1" cellspacing="0"> [...] <dtml-in expr="objectValues(['DTML Method', 'DTML Document'])" sort=id skip_unauthorized> <tr> <th> <dtml-var sequence-number> </th> <td> <img src="<dtml-var icon>" alt="[Icon]"> <dtml-var id> </td> <td> <a href="<dtml-var id>/ShowSourcecode"> [source-code] </a> </td> </tr> </dtml-in> </table> -------------------- ShowSourcecode is also a DTML-method in the folder 'docu': -------------------- [...] <div class="FBQuellcode"> <pre> <dtml-var expr="_.getitem(_['id'], 0)"> </pre> </div> [...] -------------------- The documentation is in the DTML-method 'ProgDocu'. When I call it, it shows a table at the end, which lists all DTML-files, for which the current user has enough permissions to view them. (yes, I do know I can use proxy roles to also display the "forbidden" DTML-files, but I'll see for that later) Behind every entry in that table, there's a link named '[source-code]'. When the user clicks on it, his browser calls the e.g. URL http://www.domain.com/fb/blabla_dtml/ShowSourcecode which (in this case) displays an HTML-file with the sourcecode of 'blabla_dtml'. But when one clicks on the corresponding link to display the sourcecode of 'index_html', the browser does call the correct URL http://www.domain.com/fb/index_html/ShowSourcecode but instead of the source-code, I only see the word 'None'. (which means 'Rendered whithout an error' as far as I know, right?) Could anybody please tell me, what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance, Hon.
