My apologies if this is the second copy of this arriving. My mail blew up just as I was sending it the first time. My problem. I've installed Zope ver 2.4.1 on Windows 2000 pro. It runs fine, but I want to try out the CMF. I've followed the instructions I think. It's hard to tell because all the instructions seem to assume its on a Linux type box. The instructions say: -Unpack the tarball into a working directory. For instance: $ cd /usr/local/zope $ tar xzf /tmp/CMF-1.1.tar.gz So, I downloaded the tarball and unzipped it into c:\temp Next I'm supposed to: -Link (or copy/move) the CMF packages into $INSTANCE_HOME/Products. For instance: $ cd /var/zope/Products $ ln -s /usr/local/zope/CMF-1.1/CMF* . So, using Windows Explorer, I moved the CMF-1.1 directory to C:\Program Files\Zope\lib\python\Products\ This is where all the products that show up in the Zope Products directory seem to be. Then I go to the Zope Control Panel and hit the Shutdown button, close my browser, restart Zope using start.bat and according to the instructions: -Restart Zope; verify that the CMF products loaded property, by examining them in Control_Panel/Product. -Create a CMF Site object. join, and begin adding content. Enjoy! Except that the CMF products don't show up in Products and I don't have a CMF site object option. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it is REALLY frustrating! How on Earth do you mix literals and variables in Zope?

I've got a problem which is driving me insane. It's the same type of problem I always run into with Zope -- the mixing of literals and variables. Here's what I'm trying to do: I have a form which allows users to type in documents and then select the folder to which their document will be added. "folderName", "documentID", "documentTitle", and "documentContent" are all passed from this form. "library" and "documents" are existing folder names, that is, static paths. On the processing page, I first tried: <dtml-with "library.documents.folderName"> <dtml-call "manage_addDTMLDocument(documentID, documentTitle, documentContent)"> </dtml-with> That didn't work. It gives an error saying there is no object "folderName". Fine, I wasn't expecting it to be that easy anyway (though it would have been nice). Then I tried: <dtml-with "library.documents.REQUEST['folderName']"> <dtml-call "manage_addDTMLDocument(documentID, documentTitle, documentContent)"> </dtml-with> This just puts the new document in the "documents" folder, not in its chosen sub-folder. It's like it just ignores the REQUEST['folderName'], even though I can use invoke the same variable elsewhere on the page and it works just fine. Then, I tried nested dtml-with statments: <dtml-with "library.documents"> <dtml-with folderName> <dtml-call "manage_addDTMLDocument(documentID, documentTitle, documentContent)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> And... <dtml-with "library.documents"> <dtml-with "REQUEST['folderName']"> <dtml-call "manage_addDTMLDocument(documentID, documentTitle, documentContent)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> Same result as before. I can create documents in the last named literal folder, but I can not create anything in the folder named from the form. Note that if I name the target folder explicitly, like: <dtml-with "library.documents"> <dtml-with "personnel"> <dtml-call "manage_addDTMLDocument(documentID, documentTitle, documentContent)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> It will indeed create a new document in the named folder, "library/documents/personnel". But this doesn't help me. I need to be able to create documents in the folder named in the form. Can anybody help me? And more importantly, can anyone tell what basic fact it is I'm missing about how to use variables in Zope? I tell you, I waste more time screwing around with stuff like this. There are no obvious error messages. Start.bat only shows http, ftp and pcgi starting up. Control panel doesn't seem to be complaining anywhere. I think I can create objects from the products. I'm baffled. Not hard to do in this area unfortunately. LDAPLoginAdapter 1.6 Custom Forms

Hello All, I have installed LDAPUserManager 1.3 and LDAPLoginAdapter 1.6. I have enabled "cookies and login screens" in loginadapter, and added a custom form (DTML Document) named login. Whenever I post to a document that is protected by this acl_users folder with invalid user credentials the custom form I've added is kicking in, but my problem is I also get a "traceback" message at the bottom of the screen along with it. Here is the last line of the trace. File /usr/local/Zope-2.4.1-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/LDAPLoginAdapter/LDAPLoginAdapter.py, line 821, in cookie_validate (Object: LDAPShared) LoginRequired !: (see above) How can I get rid of that message ? The custom form I've added does not access any protected resources, and it has Access content Information and view permissions to "Anonymous". More CoreSession/Data Container questions

I'm wondering about the relationship between the "Data object timeout value" in the Data Container and the "Cookie Lifetime" in the Session ID Manager. I've set the Cookie Lifetime rather high because I want the sessions to basically persist forever, but the value in the Data Container is determined in minutes, not days, so I'm a bit confused as to how long data from a session will actually persist. Processing a form with groups of radio buttons

Hi, All. I'm building a form for rating things. This form will have a variable number of "things", each with a group of five radio buttons for the rating (1-5). Is there an easy way do process this form submit with DTML? I know Zope has some cool shortcuts to handle multiple input fields (:records) and checkboxes, but I haven't seen anything for radio buttons. Make sure you set them to be equivalent periods in time, and you should be in ok shape. For example, if you had a session that you wanted to preserve for 45 days, set your cookie expiration to 45 days, and your container object timeout to (45*1440). Also, for applications that use different session expirations in session id managers (which, by design, need to be in different folder hierarchies), you would want to create multiple session data containers in your non-undo storage; otherwise you would have to create a container storing objects for longer than they might be needed. I have a server that currently serves 2 different virtual hosts through Zope, and has much different uses of CST, so I have a session is manager in each site, and share an externally mounted non-undo db at the path /session_storage, which is available as a path to each session data manager in each virtual host via acquisition, but they use different container objects within that storage; this works out well for me. One tip, though, with CST: do not (I repeat, do not) install Transparent Folders; they will break CST so that you cannot have more than one session id manager, which sucks if you are doing virtual hosting of several sites needing different session exp. times...
