Porting Data.fs

hi, I just moved Data.fs from one server to anohter. Funny think is all my install products still work in zope even though I have not moved them over yet? What's with that? dynamically change sql query in zope?

how to create a exUserFolder from Script ?

Hi, I have written a folderlike class in pyton. In my own manage_addMyProduct class I want to create an instance of exUserFolder. How can I do that ? I tried import Products.exUserFolder Products.exUserFolder.manage_addexUserFolder( c,'zodbAuthSource','zodbPropSource','basicMemberSource',1,600 ) but it does not work. It get the following error : 'Products.exUserFolder' module has no attribute 'manage_addexUserFolder' greetings Achim

Getting to properties in products?

Hi all, How do I access "class variables" (properties defined in the folder of my Product - I know it is not strictly speaking class variables!) when I am rendering my class' add form? Each product must render a list of checkboxes in the add form to define parameters of the instance. I want to store that list of choices in a list in the product and then build the html when the product is added. That way I can easily change the list without having to write a lot of HTML code every time. Here is what I have done so far: I have the following product: Control_Panel\Products\Indicator In that folder (the product folder) I have a property that is called Pressures (a list of items) (ControlPanel->Products->Indicator->Properties Tab) This means that Pressure is a class-ish variable (actually a creation-time variable, or whatever). I have a method in that folder called renderPressures (Control_Panel\Products\Indicator\renderPressures) which I want to use to render the list of pressures in the add form with checkboxes etc. When rendering the addform for a user to add a new indicator (non Zope management interface) I do it as follows in Python script: return context.manage_addProduct['Indicator'].Indicator_addForm(context) This means that context is passed to the Indicator_addForm and that <dtml-var renderPressures> will not work since it is "bound" to context, so I use <dtml-var "manage_addProduct['Indicator'].renderPressures()"> instead. renderPressures contains something like pressures = context.getProperty('Pressures') (also tried container.getProperty('Pressures') ) but that returns None and pressures = context.manage_addProduct['Indicator'].getProperty('Pressures') also returns None Thanks Etienne

use & threadsafety of MySQLdb in Zope if not using DA?

I am working on a generic toolkit for a user registration system that requires a toolkit/API for abstracting relational database access to a MySQL-based user profile database; I do this with a class that handles all the business logic of my application's core toolkit and data-access functionality. The toolkit is written in Python using MySQLdb and will be used by automation utilities, a proxy authorization system, and also within Zope via a python product I am writing. Since I'm doing this in order to have a unified API among all my apps using this database, but without the help of a DA, I'm wondering how I would go about creating a database connection object via my API in a way that works with Zope. My concerns are: 1 - I don't know how I would instantiate the object within my Zope folderish container object... The setup is usually simple in Python, I just create the DB object, which opens the DB connection in its __init__()... I'm wondering how I could create something like this 2 - I'm not sure how to make this thing thread-safe? I realize that I would need to deal with the fact that multiple threads of Zope couldn't access/use the same connection object... I guess what I am trying to figure out, is how I would have non-persistent connection objects instantiated for each thread inside Zope upon Zope startup within my product code. I'm not even sure where to start, or if I'm going about this the wrong way; I would prefer not to have to rewrite my data API classes to work with a DA... thoughts? upload without form as ExtDocument...how???

How do I "compile only" install?

How do I "compile only" during installation? I have no C compile on my web server. How do I do the compile step only on another system and what do I need to copy to the web server. I don't need (or want) the sources on the web server. There does not seem to be any sort of division of labor. I want to be able to "make" on one system and "make install" on another. Even better "make binary-dist" on the development system and then just copy some tar file, etc. to the web server. Also, in doc/INSTALL.txt it says: If you are impatient, the following commands should get you up and running with Zope 2 using ZServer and ZODB 3 on Unix: python w_pcgi.py and later: If you want to try out Zope in the simplest fashion using ZServer, then run the script wo_pcgi: python wo_pcgi.py and later: If you want to use PCGI and an existing web server run w_pcgi: python w_pcgi.py It tells me that w_pcgi.py is for a standalone environment, then later it is contradicted and tells me it is for a CGI environment. In some DTML Methods of the GUF you must write the users, their roles and domains, and check for their passwords. I'm using to do this a database in PostgreSQL.
