Hotfix_2001-09-28... applied and now client connections refuse

I set up a new 2.4.1 install on a SuSe 7.2 distrubution, changed file permissions as per an informative install article on the zope site, tested it and it worked fine (via localhost and remote connection) Then I installed the 2001-09-28 hotfix. able to start up ok, and the ./start script showed the hotfix was applied, but now I get 'connection refused when attempting....' error (localhost or remote) when I try to connect. Any ideas ?? rich pinder

PUT_Factory question

Hi ! I have read here and there a few messages talking about "PUT_Factory" scripts, which seem to enable us to create given objects types from informations transfered via HTTP or FTP "PUTs". Where could I find informations about this method ? Does it have to be implemented as a simple DTML Method, as a Python script or as an external method ?? Any information would be really usefull to me... Thanks, Thierry

hov can I unlock webdav locked objects?

I have been playing around with webdav. now I have an object locked trough webdav. How can I unlock it. What ever I try using Dreamweaver (with which I did apply the lock) I can not unlock them. If anyone could point me to an Idea how to unlock them programmatically, I would be grateful. Thanks Robert

DTML Method or PyScript returning image?

Greetings all; I've got a question about Images for you. Basically, my situation is this: I've got images 1.gif, 2.gif, 3.gif, and 4.gif in a folder. What I want to do is set up an object of some sort called "image.gif", which, when called, would randomly return one of the other graphics in the Folder. I'm guessing I'll have to set the content-type of the image and then just return the data, but it's returning the data that's the problem. Here's basically what I've got in a Python Script right now: > myImage = context[str(context.getImageNum()) + '.gif'] > > RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', myImage.getContentType()) > return myImage "getImageNum" is another Python Script in the same directory which returns a valid number for the graphic, and that part works fine. The Content-Type is set properly as well, but when I return the image, it actually returns the "<IMG SRC= . . .>" rather than the image data itself. object overloading

I'm having trouble with the following case. It seems like it should be really easy, but I don't know how to make it work: I have the following objects: a_method() folder1/a_method() folder1/whatever/whatever The problem is this: a_method(), in the root folder, gets used all over my site. It's called from various subfolders of folder1 (that is, folder1/whatever/whatever calls a_method()). But now I now need a_method() to do something a little different -- *only* when it's called within folder1. So here's the problem: folder1/whatever/whatever needs to call a_method() <dtml-var a_method()> and have that refer to /folder1/a_method(). It's no problem getting THAT far. But then, /folder1/a_method() needs to call /a_method(). This is what I can't figure out. Part of the problem is that /a_method() _needs_ to have the context of /folder1/whatever/whatever, to work. I would like to write (inside /folder1/a_method()): <dtml-var "folder1.getParentNode().a_method()"> but unfortunately it doesn't work. I get a NameError on 'folder1.' The NameError only occurs when I try to use folder1.getParentNode.a_method(). If I just write "folder1.title_or_id()", for instance, it works fine. So... can anyone help me find out how to overload method names and still call the methods (in the original context) that are higher up in the object hierarchy? --Eli __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? ZopeTime in english

since Zope 2.4.0 or was it Python 2.1, DateTime has changed considerably. Instead of returning "Monday" it now returns "m\xe5ndag" which is the escaped version of "måndag" which means monday in swedish. No matter what server I use I want it in english. How do I do that? Cheers, Peter

Problem solver tracker

Hi, Anybody who has already made a problem solver tracker? Or knows about a product which I can use? Basically we should be able to allow a user to define a problem. Other people can write follow ups and replies There should be some restrictions on which comments the user can see. Has somebody some hints on that? Thanks in advance! It would be helpfull in my struggle to convince people here about Zope and Python if I find a rather quick solution, so any hints are welcome! Regards, tom.

Adding Python modules to binary Zope installation

Has anyone any experience with compiling Python modules for a binary Zope installation? I'm trying to do this for Zope 2.4.1 running on a Sun Solaris 2.7 server. Trying the MySQL-python module, I get an error like this: ld: fatal: relocations remain against allocatable but non-writable sections when trying to run "../../bin/python setup.py build" (the ../../bin is so I am referencing the version of python used by the binary installation). Before I got this far, I had to download the python 2.1.1 source distribution and reference the include files by changing the setup.py from MySQL-python. Trying the python-ldap module, I get an error like this: pyport.h:422: #error "LONG_BIT definition appears wrong for platform (bad gcc/glibc config?)." Does anyone have a clear-cut method or set of things to check to make sure compiling Python modules for binary Zope installations works?
