Debugging sudden restarts/reboots/crashes

Hello Zope friends, We've got a sizeable Zope website (~5000 objects) that have recently started to reboot, sometimes as often as every 2-3 minutes. These restarts are random, but triggered by requests (if it's left idle it doesn't restart). What's the best way to debug such reboots? There's nothing in the STUPID_LOG_FILE about the restarts and I can't find a way to increase the debug logging. We're running Zope 2.4.1. Hope someone can help. Bye, -- Bjorn

I'm using hurrah.com to host my Zope instance. Broken object; how can I find it?

Upon startup I get: 2001-10-08T16:30:08 PROBLEM(100) ZODB Could not import class 'ExoImage' from module 'Products.ExoTravel.ExoDocument' However, I don't know where this object is. What's the easiest way to find it? (want to remove it) Bye, -- Bjorn

Yes www.imeme.com They are very intelligent in their design decisions. Everyone gets a virtual machine using a jailed environment, they run both a zope server, and the Zeo client so it scales, they give you a mailman mailing list. Very intelligent phone support. Acquisition in Python Product

Hi, I'm delevoping a python product and have some problems understanding acquisition in this context. I will try to describe the situation as short as possible: I have defined two classes with implicit acquisition. One is an object manager which I will call FolderClass, the other is a simple data container which I will call DataClass. The hierarchy of the objects is : .../Instance_of_FolderClass/Folder/Instance_of_DataClass Because I want to define the layout of DataClass in the FolderClass, I define the following index_html for DataClass: def index_html(self,REQUEST): """some docu""" p = getattr(self,'displayDCMethod',some_default) return p(self,REQUEST) now I define a DTML-Method 'displayDCMethod' in FolderClass, which calls a memberfunction of FolderClass: <dtml-var expr='myTestFkt(REQUEST)'> defined as: def myTestFkt(self,REQUEST): # try to access the 'original' object Sorry for the long explanation, but here's my problem: I think self in myTestFkt should be an acquisition wrapper around my Instance_of_DataClass, but using aq_base I only get Instance_of_FolderClass. What's going wrong here ? Can somebody explain to me, why self is not Instance_of_DataClass and how I can get it ? If my construction is to complicated and could be made easier I would also be glad to hear the solution. ;-) greetings Achim

Core Session Tracking 0.9 Released

Hi Folks, A new version of the Core Session Tracking product (the first one in six months!) has been released. Core Session Tracking is a Product which allows you to easily associate transient data with anonymous users. The product is available from http://www.zope.org/Members/mcdonc/Products/CoreSessionTracking. To upgrade from prior releases, just remove the "old" CoreSessionTracking product directory and install this one as per the install instructions in the help/CoreSessionTracking.stx document. A list of changes since the last version is: - Took advantage of securityinfo module and new BTrees modules. As a result, CST 0.9 is incompatible with releases of Zope prior to Zope 2.3.2. - Objects are now acquisition-unwrapped before being placed into session storage (thanks to Matt Hamilton) - A SessionData object's __setitem__ may now be called from a Python Script, it failed previously with a security error. - Fixed bug in SessionDataManager security assertions which made it impossible to change security parameters (thanks to Uwe C. Schroeder). - Fixed constructor number of parameter bugs (thanks to Chris Withers). - Fixed bugs that made isTokenFromForm, isTokenFromCookie, and isTokenNew methods virtually useless (thanks to Frank Tegtmeyer). - added flushTokenCookie method, which deletes the token cookie from the client browser with prejudice. This method is useful when you want to start out completely fresh with a different token. - Fixed bug which caused a "TypeError: loop over non-sequence" at startup under Zope 2.4.X in the Interfaces module which caused the product to not be initialized properly. (Thanks to Chris Withers and Joachim Werner). - Added multithread test cases to testSessionDataManager. - SessionFanout _getleaf method made more efficient by making allowed_hashes a dictionary (thanks to Anthony Baxter). - Added 'getName' alias to SessionData's 'getId' method for compatibility with code written for SQLSession (thanks to Anthony Baxter). - SessionDataContainer keys are now required to be strings (thanks to Anthony Baxter). - Added a new method to SessionDataManagers, "getSessionDataByKey", which provides a way to obtain an arbitrary session data object by feeding it a key (as opposed to getSessionData, which always obtained the session data object related to the current token). A user needs to possess a special permission to be able to do this. - Added conflict resolution to (RAM-based, internal) SessionStorage. - Made internal data container use "LowConflictConnection" class for its ZODB connections. This class operates differently than the standard Connection class because it doesn't raise "read" conflict errors. - Removed "AutoExpireMapping" class and merged its functionality into SessionDataContainer. - Removed "SessionFanout" module (unecessary because we're not trying to support pre-2.3.2 Zopes). - Refactored tests slightly. - Added SessioningPermissions and common modules. Hope this isn't too off-topic. Our VLE is totally implemented in Zope, and as we want to expand it....oh, and forget the PERL bit - that was an oversight! :) We have a two year position available, working within the FMCC to further develop the NLE (Networked Learning Environment). The NLE is a virtual learning environment (VLE) implemented in Zope, Python, XML and SQL database technologies, initially developed at Newcastle under TLTP 3-86 that is being used daily by the Medical Schools at Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield. This post is designed to build on the successes of the NLE and further consolidate the usage of the NLE both at Newcastle and further afield. Details follow: University of Newcastle upon Tyne Faculty of Medicine Computing Centre Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate Internet Development, £16,775-£23,256 The Faculty of Medicine Computing Centre (FMCC) wishes to appoint a highly motivated professional to join an existing development team to further the development of learning support systems within the Faculty of Medicine. This two-year post carries development responsibility for communication and information technology (C&IT) based approaches to support student learning and facilitate the recording of achievement primarily within the Medical Curriculum, working with students based in sites remote from the main University Campus. Checking string for specific characters

Hello, I need to create some filenames from the titles of some objects. In order to make these filenames correct, I need to create a function that checks the title string in order to see if there are any "non-allowed" characters in the string and strip them. Right know I am doing a string.replace for the characters that aren't allowed, but it would be much easier to specify what characters that _is_ allowed.
