Ticking Security boxes via Python

When an object (sub class to my new product I'm working on) is created I in it, create a user folder and user in there with the role "TimeTable User". Suppose that I create this container, click "Security" and makes the following settings: 1) View is NOT acquired 2) To get View you have to be either "Manager", "TimeTable User" or "TimeTable Manager" little ticked boxes across the View permission. How can I do this with python?? 2virtualhosts on 1 zope, apache in front

Hello ! Being in desperate need for help on the follwing problem, i am asking you to help me. Here comes the problem: I have one ZServer listening on port 7080, which should run 2 different virtual hosts called atp.decodon.com and ughagh.com. In the ZopeDB the files for the atp.decodon.com are located in the root-folder / - and the files for ughagh.com are located in a subfolder called /play/Test. In the root-Folder /, there sits a virtualhostmonster. An Apache serves as a Proxy with the following Configuration: <VirtualHost 172.31.1.7:80> ServerName ughagh.com ServerAdmin webmaster(a)decodon.com ProxyPass / http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/ughagh.com:80/play/Test/VirtualH… ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/ughagh.com:80/play/Test/VirtualH… </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 172.31.1.7:80> ServerName atp.decodon.com ServerAdmin webmaster(a)decodon.com ServerAlias atp.decodon.com www.atp.decodon.com ProxyPass / http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/atp.decodon.com:80//VirtualHostR… ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/atp.decodon.com:80//VirtualHostR… </VirtualHost> So far, everything works fine, EXCEPT: when i am in ughagh.com, which is actually a subfolder of atp.decodon.com, i can move up the directory tree, to the files which are supposed to be seen only from atp.decodon.com... (I can do this, simply by entering an existing Filename of one of the upper Directories) Now, i am asking anyone who knows about this, how (by which Product or whatever) i can stop anyone moving up the directory-tree to the files which should belong to the domain atp.decodon.com. Being quite a Newbie, i would appreciate help, which is understandable by a partial zope-dumb. Thanx, in advance!! Chr.! PS: I also tried to edit the VirtualHostMonster, but it didn't help!

Simple Login-Form

Hi List, maybe it's just (or something) ... I want to build a plain and simple form for users to authenticate ... how would I do something like that? Can anyone recommend a Zope friendly ISP...

I have a small site being developed in Zope (version 2.4.1) that will use PostgreSQL as the database and I need to develop it with two others who are remote. I found NIP doing a Google search, but I was wondering if there are others that will host Zope and PostgreSQL in a non-dedicated server environment and who would do it well. I checked Valueweb, Interland, and Rackspace. All would do it dedicated, but PHP/mySQL appears to be the non-dedicated option. Valueweb's site says they support Python, Perl, and PHP, but I am not sure if Zope fits under the Python/Perl category. Wanted a recommendation before I start making calls. I have a couple of other items that I would appreciate feedback on: 1. The site needs email list management and a method to send receive them. Seems like Mailman and Sendmail are the natural choices or does Zope have a product or interface that can handle that need. The list manager will need to be able to send email reminders to a single email address or list on self-scheduled basis. Are these the right tools? 2. The site is a "community" type site where individuals can login and save information related to self-improvement and share it with others (either the public at large or specified email addresses). Any recommendations as to Zope products that should be considered. 3. Does anyone have any recommendations as to a Zope product or other tool for doing PostgreSQL administration? 4. Anyone used ActiveStates' Komodo for Python/Perl development with Zope? If so, would you recommend it? 5. Finally, there will be some minor banner ads put on the site. url_quoting and getURL

I am cataloging mysql-data with zcatalog following the how-to provided by zope-member rbicker. this works fine. since I use batch-processing to build web pages containing e.g. 3 mysql data records per page, the uid's, hence the url's of the zcatalog's objects are e.g.: /base/select_mm_url/2/show_intro?start=4 in the search results' page I use the following code to link to the results: <A HREF="&dtml.-getURL;">link</a> unfortunately, the link on the web page turns out like: /base/select_mm_url/2/show_intro%3fstart%3d4 what is my mistake? I was believing I would have to turn off the automatic url-quoting using the entity reference '&dtml ....;' by putting the '.' after '&dtml'. but it seems, this doesn't work with 'getURL'. if so, what other possibilities do I have to "get" the results' "url"? thanks for any hint. lambert

permission problems during debugging Zope

I try to debug my Zope (Zope-2.4.1) application by the use of the following script ('debug.py'): import Zope, ZPublisher from AccessControl.SecurityManagement import newSecurityManager def zope (url): app = Zope.app() admin = app.acl_users.getUser('admin') newSecurityManager(None, admin) ZPublisher.Zope(url, d=1) Then I start up python and import this module.
