Greetings! I hope you can help me with this. This is for our marketing team. How do you get the webstats for a clustered server architecture? It's like this, we have Apache running as front-end for Zope. These are identical servers being load balanced. I thought for the easiest way, multiply the stats of one server by the total number of servers since they are load balanced. I laughed, they didn't. I guess they didn't understand it. :) Anyway, someone suggested using cluster trends. But that means opening an ftp port on every clustered server which means insecurity. Is there another way? Has anyone created their own stats script for apache or similar webservers? Something like hitbox? We used webalizer before. But since the load balancing, I cannot accurately get the stats for the websites. Please advice me on what to do with the dilemma of the marketing team. No, I can't make them resign. Better unix distrib for zope ??

I am very_very_very bored with the "politics" beside the rpm based distribuition (redhat, mandrake), which made impossible to to not be updating anything at any minute of the day (distributions that creates any kind of dependencies based on librairies, on anything). I want to have a really stable server on the net (for running zope), where I can upgrade without having to upgrade anything. I would like to have your opinion about (all oriented to Zope): Debian Suse FreeBSD (anything better? A mix ?? Debian+Slackware???) -- __o _ \<_ (_)/(_) Saludos de Julián EA4ACL -.-

icons not in __init__.py

When stating which icon to use for a python product you do that like this in __init__.py icon="event.gif" But what about subclasses which are object on their own? They don't use the initialize() method. I have tried: class SubClassObject(ObjectManager, etc): meta_type='Event' icon='event.gif' where event.gif is a valid gif next to the .py file I write this in. That didn't work! So, I have also tried: icon="misc_/MyProduct/event.gif" and icon="misc_/MyProduct/event" and icon="/misc_/MyProduct/event.gif" and icon="/misc_/MyProduct/event" Nothing has worked? Zope 2.4.0 What's the trick? Peter

Concurrent access with Apache and Zope

Hi I'm having following phenonemon...if dtml-in with a sort on lots of data or I do a big ZCatalog-query then all transactions to Zope (2.4.0 on Sun Intel-PC) (after that transaction) wait for the first "big" transaction to finish before returning their results. This is naturally not so good if I want to have a site with about 50 concurrent users... I'd say the problem looks, as if I have only one thread returning results. Since I can't believe that Zope cannot handle parallel requests it must be my config. I already played arround with giving Zope more threads but it didn't change the behaviour. I use Apache 1.3.19 and Zope 2.4.0. Apache does SSL and the virtual hosting. Apache runs as Proxy Pass. I use the VirtualHostMonster on the Zope side to do the pathtranslation. I havn't checked things like FastCGI or PCGI. I'm desperate for an answer but I don't know where to look. So I'd be thankful for any help. proxyPass and Proxy Error

Hello all, I have the following problem and I cannot seem to figure out how to resolve it. I have Zope set up and I am using a proxyPass in Apache to direct people to this site. Simple enough. Well the problem comes when Zope crashes, the Apache server returnes a ProxyError in a browser. My Question, Is there any way to have Apache direct users to an alternet page if Zope crashes. A static page on the apache server itsself for example? Thanks Eric

WINDOWS ODBC AND ZOPE 2.4 ISSUE

I download the latest version of Zope 2.4.1 for windows and all three the ZODBC adapter files. When I restart Zope I get the following error: "Python15.dll" bad path or filename. This file does not exist in the present installation. Do I need to reset the path to just python21.dll which does indeed exist. And which file would I need to tweak? I still looking. While I don't know the specifics of that upgrade path, you may want to try installing to a different directory than your 2.2.4, copy over any 3rd party products, possibly looking on zope.org for updates, and copy over your old data.fs to your new installation. You can run both instances of zope using different port numbers to do testing - see z2.py to set the port number.
