I'd very much like to do the same thing...but I don't really understand the solution you've given here. only know HTML; how easy to learn Zope?

I only know HTML. No programming. I found Learning Python very difficult. But I do (just about!) manage to run FreeBSD :-) How hard is it for non-programmers to learn Zope? Would PHP be easier? How many of you guys graduated from Python to Zope? If I only know HTML can I realistically learn anything beyond the very basics of Zope or am I looking at learning Pyhton in parallel? Should I start with the Zope Book? Should I start learning python at the same time? Z SQL Method Question

I'm trying to build a query with three optional variables and three optional operators. I think I have a form that supplies the variables correctly, but am less certain about DTML use in a SQL query. Calling __call__ from an External Method

All, Help needed : I want to use an external method to generate a DTML Document in SYLK format. My goal is to permit this : http://my.virtual-net.fr:8080/test/doc will render the DTML Document "doc" in HTML and http://my.virtual-net.fr:8080/test/doc/view_sylk will send the document roughly converted in SYLK. For doing that, I have created a ZClass with "OFS: DTML Document" as base class and added an External Method to this class. I have written (using sgmllib) a very simple parser that converts HTML to SYLK. The problem is that I don't know how to render the DTML source of my document into HTML before converting it into SYLK. I have tried to use "__call__" method in various ways but couldn't find the correct syntax/parameters/namespace to use. Thanks for any help, -- S. I presume you're using cookies to track session ids. In this case, you're redirecting to a URL before the browser has gotten an opportunity to send the session id cookie to the server. To get around this, turn on querystring sessionids, and run the redirect URL through encodeUrl for this redirect only (and any other redirects before which you set a session variable and where the next page depends on that session variable). E.g. <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(sessiondatamanager.encodeUrl(URL1 + '/dealer'))"> This will allow the session id manager to get and parse the session-encoded URL on the redirect. MS Exchange

My organization uses Microsoft Exchange 5.5 (ptui!) for e-mail and collaboration. We have a Public Folder called "Company Contacts" which is our company-wide contact list. I want to access that from Zope. I'm running Zope off of a Red Hat Linux 6.1 box. There doesn't seem to be a way to get to it from LDAP (grumble), and IMAPv4 is only giving me limited information (Contact Name and Notes). I don't think there's a way to do it with COM or MAPI (as my Zope server is Linux), but I'm not sure. My last ditch will be to write an ASP page running on the Exchange server to present that info to Zope for processing. If anyone could provide me with more insight or better solution, I'd love to hear it. TIA.

I have problems with the product Core Session Tracking. I use internal storage. It seems that a variable stored in a session disappears sometimes, but sometimes not. Are there any problems with this product?

HI, I am trying to set up a form when a user can upload three images at once: one for a logo, one for a city map and one for a country map. These images are used by a ZClass (Base classes: ZCatalog Aware, Object Manager) to display a hotel web page, with info about this hotel. Authorised users are supposed to create this hotel instance. ImportError of SheetProviderContainer

Search Features and Zope Directions Road Map

Zope is a great application server, the same as its soon to be released Content Management Framework, because of its bet on Python, everybody say it. Nevertheless, after reading the Directions Roadmap from DC, I was surprised that a substantial improvement of the searching features of Zope, wasn't mentioned as a major concern. For a new Zope enthusiast like me, it is a kind of addiction to arrange and administer content while taking the learning curve. Almost everybody in this list with a non-programming background might've experimented this. But when I arrived to the search features of ZCatalog, I got mixed feelings. (Right now I'm stuck on this OR indexes searching :) ) The fact is that - according to my strong belief - everybody uses more Google to look for Zope Site's content than Zope's own Zcatalog's search engine. Moreover, everybody uses more Google to look for everything, bypassing windows, doors, and portals!. Why? Because it's terribly smart (not mentioning its 6,000 Linux boxes, by the way), and because there's no need to follow the highly-engineered information architecture of a web site, if there's a trustful shorcut to the relevant content!. So, if I'd have to mention one big feature improvement to Zope, I wouldn't doubt: "search engine". I just wanted to point on this subject. I know Zope isn't about spidering and retrieving, but it should have "Greater Search Capabilities" as a title, within that roadmap. :) Ausum p.d. Right now I'm quite interested at the technology of searching and finding non structured content, in order to compose structured documents. For example, the guys at Vignette (StoryServer) say that its customers don't need to keyword anything in order to have a "related content" section. After the writer finishes a story, (possibly while) a routine by Autonomy (www.autonomy.com) reads the document and finds out what the document is about, and so it triggers a search for related content within the site, without the need of intervention by the writer. (For the curious, Autonomy has published a personal version of its software. It's called Kenjin (www.kenjin.com) ). On the other hand, Fast, from Norway, already have a nice multimedia search engine, from regular, non-structured, spidered web pages. Can we do that "structuring the unstructured" thing within Zope?
