[snip] That's one thing I hate about SiteRoots - once you created them you can't manage them anymore in some situations :( But that's only true for the SiteRoot object itself. For me it's perfectly possible to manage the http section without sending my password in cleartext and I wouldn't have considered using Zope at all if that wouldn't have been possible. My SiteRoot 'http' located in the root folder looks like this: Base: http://www.myaddress.de Path: / So 'http' is _not_ a folder - it's a SiteRoot object! So it's only another possible way to access the whole site. Then in my virtual host port 80 section as a security precaution access is forbidden to anything the contains the string 'manage'. This way I can never accidentally manage the site sending a password cleartext. Also the access to the folders containing ssl-only stuff is forbidden in this section. On the other hand in the port 443 section the whole site is accessible (with few exceptions) so that I can manage everything with https. I don't know about your setup but I think this solution is very flexible so that it should be possible to adapt it to a large range of problems. Ragnar

zope : create a variable

hi, I am using ZOPE for my project. I would like to create a variable . and initially I will assign a value ' ' ( an empty string). and I want to concatenate the output of the query to that variable and finally use that variable for display. query means any thing got bye <dtml-in mymethod> can any body show me a way. thanks subrahmanyan.

Python monitoring script for Zope?

Hello Zopistas, I am wondering if someone has already written a Python script that will monitor Zope and do a stop/start if Zope is not responding (we are experiencing a problem with a customer's site in that Zope stops responding to GET/POST requests, but the Zope processes are still running.) AndyM has written a similar Perl script for Windows-based Zope installations, but I can't seem to find anything on Zope.org that will run on UNIX. If no such script exists, then I'll author one and throw it up on my Member page. Thanks for any info provided, Will Dennis P-Wave, Inc.

Ahh - I not sure if youve missed the point. The dtml will use attributes from elements of the inner sequence or it acquisition context, in preference to those of the sequence, whether the programmer wants it or not.

Proposal: Include tino's patched <dtml-in> in future Zope

I propose including tino's patched version of the <dtml-in> tag in a future version of Zope. http://www.zope.org/Members/tino/in_tag_patch/ It provides two enhancements: 1. For all variables that include hyphens there are aliases that use underscores. So instead of <dtml-var expr="_['sequence-item'] * 3"> you can write <dtml-var expr="sequence_item * 3"> 2. PANIC(300) & FSSession?

Add a new instance of product

Does anyone know how I can add an instance of a Product like "ExtFile" in any folder I like using DTML and not using the managementscreen. I only found how to add an instance of an product I designed myself in DTML. Is there something like manage_addExtFile() ? What parameters needs the method? Thanks for helping. Steffen

Adding properties to all objects of a certain type

I want to add certain properties to objects of a certain type without having to use the web interface (there are too many of them)... e.g. I would like to add the following properties to all folders: title_en (string), nickname (string), nickname_en (string), template (string), reviewed (boolean) and the following to all DTML-Documents: lang (string), nickname (string), template (string), keywords (string), author (string), reviewed (boolean) A few documents and folders on the site have these properties already (is this a problem?). And after I add these properties to all documents and folders how do I get Zope to add them to new ones automatically? I want to keep everything as simple as possible... i.e. no Z Class to worry about when upgrading, etc. Concrete examples would be appreciated (theoretically I know it is possible with Zope considering what I have been able to do up to this point as a greenhorn!).
