Hello I was making some exercises, and wanted to test the <dtml-sqltest> tag. So I wrote the following: select * from address <dtml-sqlgroup required where> <dtml-sqlgroup> <dtml-sqltest name column=name op=like type=string optional> <dtml-or> <dtml-sqltest name column=last_name op=like type=string optional> </dtml-sqlgroup> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest company op=like type=string optional> </dtml-sqlgroup> Following the Zope book, that should produce: select * from address if no parameters specified, or: Select * from address where (name like 'ste*' or last_name like 'ste*) in case the name param is valid and so on. Pety that I can't make it working. Everytime I run it, all conditions are rendered, regardless. So I modified it this way select * from address <dtml-sqlgroup required where> <dtml-if name> <dtml-sqlgroup> <dtml-sqltest name column=name op=like type=string optional> <dtml-or> <dtml-sqltest name column=last_name op=like type=string optional> </dtml-sqlgroup> </dtml-if> <dtml-and> <dtml-if company> <dtml-sqltest company op=like type=string optional> </dtml-if> </dtml-sqlgroup> but this way it is not like the book describes and requires some extra work, and I think it is not in the intentions of the sqlgroup/sqltest tag functionality. Now the question is: where I make it wrong? Note that I put the two parameters in the ZSQL parameters list. Thanks for the kind help! Stefano

Renting/buying a dedicated Zope server

I finally got the company I work for to give me a chance to try a pilot project using Zope. Problem is we need a server set-up somewhere running Apache and Zope (preferably under NT as we have no *nix/nux knowhow whatever inhouse.) We found a company here in the netherlands that will host a 19" server for us cheaply, so we asked our hardware supplier for an offer on the box with apache installation (Zope i can manage myself, but i have never even seen Apache up close). They said it would cost approximately 10k for an IBM Netfinity with 2 SCSI-drives, including 12 hrs to install Apache. Somehow that seemed a little excessive to me, and even if it isn't, we can't afford to spend that much on this project right now, but we might in a few months. My question is: does anyone on the list know of a partner that can: a) sell us the hardware & Apache installation at a lower price (keeping in mind the box will have to be shipped to the Netherlands.) or b) rent us a server with Apache/Zope installed, and something like pc-anywhere running to access it from over here. We would require 24-7 service (someone to reboot the server if it hangs/crashes, not much more.) any ideas would be greatly appreciated. call by reference

Hi, for some external methods in zope i have do write some python scripts. Here my question: I want do a 'function - call by reference' in python. My function definition is like that: def foo(foo1,foo2): foo1=1 foo2=2 My intention is to call the function from an other function in the python script like def foo2(): x,y=2,3 foo(x,y) I know that python is working with seperate namespaces in case of function calls, but is there a work-around for this problem. ralph

Hiding Port Number in Zope

We are running Zope under an Apache server and we were wondering if there was anyway to remove the port number from the web address. For example, our web address looks as following: http://www.something.com:8080/its and we would like it to look like this http://www.something.com.its is there any way to do this?

SiteAccess problem

Hello all after careful reading of all the how-to on how to hide Zope behind Apache, I was trying to apply it. I am running Zope 2.3.1b So I have set up properly Apache 1.3.17, and placed a folder to start testing. I add the SiteAccess, I place the parameters... pluff, Zope throws an exception and tells me that it can't find the document. I will recap: say w.x.y.200 mapped to "vzope". So I add a SiteRoot object and set the base to http://vzope. After this, from manage I can't access the folder anymore. Where am I making the mistake? Thanks Stefano

Rewrite Rule

Hello, I know this topic has been covered time and time again, and I think I understand most of it, BUT ;^o I am having problems / something "funny" seems to be happening! Following the tutorial in building a Job Board http://www.zope.org/Members/mukhsein/job_board_howto , all works well but this is where the "somethin funny" seems to happen. I have a rewrite rule in my apache conf file RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/Zope(.*) /usr/local/Zope/Zope.cgi$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] so that when I type http://www.foo.com/Zope/Job_Board/ I get to the index_html for this tutorial. If I view the job board the entries are shown I can add jobs, BUT when I do a search, although the entries are displayed in a table as it is supposed to, the URL link for the "Position", which takes us back to the entry re-writes itself to http://www.foo.com/Job_Board/entries/982927522 missing /Zope therefore giving me an error 404 Not Found So, looking at the Entry Search Result DTML Method <TD> <A href="<dtml-var "Catalog.getpath(data_record_id_)">"> <dtml-var position_name></A> </TD> Catalog.getpath does not seem to work with rewrite rule !?!?! Is this correct, or am I missing something. If I access the above using http://www.foo.com:8080/Job_Board/ and do a search the Catalog.getpath works. Thanks for your help Norman

The Zope Book

I just have to write in about the Zope book. I had a look at it in it's earlier stages (when I first evaluated and decided not to try Zope), and had trouble with it. I'm not sure why I had this bad first impression (about a year ago? maybe more?) but maybe I was just in a bad mood. I just had another look at it, and it's like manna from heaven for me as a new user. I hope nice things happen to the authors. My only complaint is that there is no order form for a hard copy! My little printer is running it off right now, but I'd like to have the actual book when it comes out. If you can't take orders yet, you could take email addresses and notify people the day it does become available. How about it? Don
