I am new to Zope and these lists. So I hope to learn where to post things, and how to avoid posting questions already asked. What I am most interested in knowing: Is there support for pages with (the equivalent of) applets or java swing controls? In other words, a page with controls that can be dynamically updated without resending the entire page? Is there support for including python code in a page that will be run on the browser (akin to javascript)? I understand that session support is coming. How soon? I created an ODBC connection to Visual FoxPro tables. Once I run zsql the tables are locked until I shut the Zope server down. Is there a way to share the tables and/or release them? Where does one post enhancement requests? Is there a way to search the archives for a topic. Hello! I'm in a situation that I'm sure many are familiar with...choosing between MySQL or PostgreSQL. My main goals are stability under high load and ease of use. I don't need transactions. I know the standard comparison: MySQL is faster, simpler, and more popular, while PostgreSQL is slower but is more fully SQL standards based, handles transactions, etc. Are these generally accurate descriptions? I'm wondering what people who have used either (or both!) think about using these (or other databases) in conjunction with Zope. MailHost product?

Hello, After upgrading to Zope 2.2.4, I can't mail anymore. I have a page which sends an e-mail. I'm sure the proxy-settings are ok. It still won't work. I clicked 'MailHost' I once added to the root and it gives an error. Deleting the MailHost and trying to add a new one also gives an error: "Resource not found". No big deal. Lets find an updated MailHost product. The easiest way: I type 'MailHost' in the search-box. 17 Items found, but no MailHost product. Let's try the 'Advanced search'. Here, I can select a category, so I select 'Product release'. No results... I go to the download-page on the Zope website. I try all 'obvious' categories, but MailHost is in none of them. But fortunately, there is always the 'catch-all' 'All Zope Products'. The page says: "They are listed in alphabetical order". The page begins with 'Refresh'. Right. So I click 'Title'. There are 284 products. I can't click the 'M' for MailHost, so I have to browse... Click-wait-click-wait-click-wait.... 'Macromedia Generator 2 Adapter', 'Managed Mode additions to ZWiki'... What? No MailHost?? Grrr. And this is certainly not the first time I couldn't find the stuff I need. Please help me! Why is there no good documentation? Why is Zope so baaad? Why didn't I had these problems with Perl, PHP, C or Java? Why does this Zope-project takes twice as long as any other project? Edwin Martin.

How to make an existing Zclass catalog aware

Hi everybody, I am using the Managed Meeting product to set up a course management site. Since Managed Meeting is totally built on Zclasses I would like to make these classes catalog aware, so I can make canned searches and display different kind of courses, depending on the user interest. I still did not create any object from these classes Is there any way to make an existing class catalog aware? Thanks, Stefano

Update to Zope 2.3.0 ?

Our current Zope Version is 2.4.0. Is it possible to update on Version 2.3.0 without installing the full version of 2.3.0 ? Steffen
