DCOracle install

Ok so I upgraded to the DCOracle2 alpha and I can now add a Z Oracle Adapter. But I am now getting the following error for any connection string I give it: Invalid connection string: user/password@schema (Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent) What is the deal? Cal ---- Original Message ---- I have been setting up DCOracle 1.3.2 on my Solaris 2.6 box with Zope 2.2.5. I can get the librarys to compile and even tested them with the python script included with success. I add the DCOracle to the lib/python/Products directory and then placed the two libs in there and restarted zope. I go to control panel and the DCOracle product shows up and isn't broken, but when I go to the root and try to add a ZOracle Connection it isn't even avalible in the pulldown menu. I have tried the exact same thing with Zope 2.3.0 and got the same result. Am I missing something here? Thanks, Calvin

LocalFS problems with Zope2.3

Linux, debian (woody), source installation of Zope. authentication with postgres

Namespace How-To?

Hello, I really got mangled with namespaces and acquisition. Here is my problem: From a form I call http://site/index_html?arg1=1&arg2=2 Now index_html will do <dtml-var "reports.overview()"> and reports.overview will do <dtml-in "sql.CntEntries()"> But this will report a traceback due to the fact that sql (a folder in root-folder, with all my ZSQL obj.) is not seen. (Please find the Traceback below) index_html is a DTML-Method reports.overview is a DTML-Method sql.CntEntries is a ZSQL-Method Why can't I call sql.CntEntries? Is there anywhere a good explanantion of namespaces and acquisition? Acquisition???

Hello, I got the followin objects: /reports/overview DTML-Method /default_html DTML-Document /index_html DTML-Document in index_html I try to reference one of them, but indirect, like this. (This is my test document to create a simple example of my problem.) <dtml-let itemA="'default_html'"> <dtml-var "_[itemA]"> </dtml-let> <dtml-let itemB="'reports.overview'"> <dtml-var "_[itemB]"> </dtml-let> itemA will be properly displayed. itemB is not found, a Traceback is produced: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: reports.overview Why that? What to do about it? zope script execution timeout

Hi, first a more python/httplib.py specific question: I know there has been a patch for this module to support socket timeout exception but I cant find the bastard. Anyone? I can see that in Python2.0 the urllib module now has a timeout implementation but is it safe to replace urllib.py from 2.0 in zope's python modules? I know... I will try it... but if someone has any experience in this would help. Now more zope/Zserver specific: ZServer/medusa has a timeout option, I reduced this value but that just doesnt seems to work, I still have zombie channels running for days. Meanwhile I'm working on a External Method that imports Zhttpserver stuff where I can enter in the zope's channels poll and find the zombie ones and hopefully killing/closing the bastards, thats just what Zserver.maintenance() should do but doesnt. A final point is I know in unix I could use the signal module but I'm working on NT (dont laugh like a drain please :-), which doesnt support signals but supports a "structured exception handling" (whatever this means...), bottom line, is there a signal like module in python working on NT that I could use to for instance wrap httplib and urllib calls? LocalFS and relative paths

LocalFS is a very useful product, thanks to Jonathan. I'm wondering if it's possible to specify a relative path in LocalFS, e.g. specifying 'images' as ID and 'projectXYZ/images/' as basepath would mount sth like '($INSTANCE_HOME)/var/LocalFS/projectXYZ/images'? This would simplify moving LocalFS-enabled sites from one machine to another that don't have the same directory structure if you like to keep your stuff under the Zope tree, rather than at fixed paths. Currently, I delete LocalFS objects and recreate them when I move a site. Ayhan PS: Make this question a feature request if not currently available.

What you want is called "computed variable access". "_[expression]" and "_.getitem(expression)" are answers to this problem. Search the (searchable) mailing list archive for more information. Dieter
