I am wanting to run Zope on Windows 2000 "Professional" to connect to a mySQL database. I have the database created and populated, but I cannot figure out how to access it via Zope (I see a Zope Gadfly database connection, but that's not the same thing, is it?). Can someone tell me "what button to push"?. Thanks! How do you find contents of the parent?

I'm trying to set up a navigation panel at the left of my web pages in Zope. I don't have any trouble getting the content of the current level. However, it would be more helpful if I got the content (folders, in particular) of the _parent_ folder. Is there a way to do that? Thanks in advance, Ron ./.

If you are referring to the EventCalendar product, it doesn't seem to work with 2.3.0. calling a python script from a dtml method

From: D Blanding Hello- I'm new to Zope... (have read the Zope Book) and have used Python. For my first Zope project, I'm building a web application that stores and retrieves stuff from the Z-Gadfly RDB. I have successfully written a python script which calls a zsql method which selects all the records of my table. (The table is not very big.) The python script then converts each record to a list (adding a couple of fields and doing some arithmetic, etc.) then appends all these lists together into one big list. The python script takes no arguments. Now I want to display the data in a table. So I plan to call the python script from a dtml method which will present the data. But I don't know how to do this. Can anyone give me advice on how to do this? Also, once I succeed in calling the python script, I'm not sure how I will parse a list of lists in dtml. I have seen examples using: <dtml-in> <dtml-sequence-item> </dtml-in> to parse lists but how do I read through a list of lists? Doug Blanding doug.blanding(a)kodak.com

DocFinder is a small Zope product that displays the available documentation for Zope objects. More information and download at: URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/DocFinder.html This release 0.2 fixes a Zope 2.2 incompatibility (it uses now HTMLFile rather than DTMLFile) and makes it clearer how to get documentation for objects that are not URL addressable. Can't login as superuser (or anyone else!)

I know this question has come up before, but none of the other responses quite fit my situation, so I'm bringing it up again. My first zope install was on Win2K and everything went fine -- got set up, logged in, started working. No problem. Now I am setting up Zope on a RedHat 6.2 server, using Zope-2.3.0-1.i386.rpm Zope-pcgi-2.3.0-1.i386.rpm Apache 1.3.12 Everything installed fine. Browser displays the options page accessible through /cgi-bin/Zope.cgi, but when I try to access /manage and login using the superuser account with the default '123' password, the login fails. I've changed the password using zpasswd.py and restarted Zope. Also changed the password editing 'access' directly (and restarted Zope) Restarted httpd (just for luck). Each time, the login fails. But couldn't you use the ErrorDocument directive to throw up an error for any Proxy-Error? i.e. ErrorDocument 502 /localdocument/my_lame_excuse.html Hmm, just checked, apache 1.3.9 seems not send anything if a timout occurs. At least just opening a port on localhost with netcat and letting apache connect to that didn't throw any error at all )-, it just closed the connection after timeout and IE threw a popup error. Bad. At least I can confirm that indeed the global parameter "timeout" is also responsible for mod_proxy's timout handling. cheers, oliver
