The DTML method call: <dtml-var expr="get_rid()"> Will call get_rid without a "namespace", so get_rid can't lookup next_rid, and therefore it fails. Try this: <dtml-var expr="get_rid(_.None, _)"> Try the Zope "Help" link from the management interface, go "Zope Help", "Zope API", "DTML Method", and lookup the API for __call__: __call__(client=None, REQUEST={}, **kw): So, clearly this will work: <dtml-var expr="get_rid(_.None, REQUEST)"> Namespaces are hard! Autocataloging in Zope 2.3.0

Hi all, I followed Automatic Cataloging example in Zope Book, Chapter 9 to the letter. The only thing I was not sure about was ZCatalog placement. The example says to go to the root folder, so I placed ZCatalog (named Catalog) in the Zope Root folder. Is it right? Can the ZCatalog be placed somewhere else, like inside the relevant ZClass, or in the instance folder? Anyway, everything works fine except automatic cataloging of newly created fields ("author", "content"). When I change data in those fields it is not reflected in the catalog. When I add a new instance, it is not included in the catalog. This can be verified by clicking on the Catalog tab, and choosing the newly added instance (the page that says "the goal of this page is to provide basic debugging information about what is in the Catalog on a specific object."). Also, calling <dtml-in>Catalog</dtml-in> does not display new/modified data. The situation can be rectified by manually clicking Advanced/Update Catalog (for modified fields) or by Find Objects (for new instances). In other words, the catalog can only be updated manually. Strangely, the "date" field does not suffer this problem. I run Zope 2.3.0 binary release, Linux 2.2.18/RedHat 6.2, and Netscape 4.76 -- Milos Prudek

Hello, As mentioned in a previous mail, there seems to be a very serious bug with Export/Import and inheritance. Practically what happen is that when a class inherits from another class that belongs to another product, its exportation also include the class that it inherits. (have a look at the exported xml file to see the problem). Practically later after re-importing this class, its subclass is not the one that you see in your Zope browser, but rather a kind of "Ghost" class. Perhaps this apply also to your property inheritance bug to a certain extent ? (for instance, you may have had exported/imported when you had to upgrad your Zope installation). Hi, I'm organizing with a friend a small zope xourse for a group of intersted people here in Italy. The number of persons is growing and so we have decided to split up one big Zope course in to two courses. The first will be an introduction of the environment from the perspective of a general user and content manager up to a little of dtml grammar. The second will be zope from a programmer perspective and so it starts where the first finished to explain the Zope API and how to use it, with dtml, zclasses, python and maybe perl (i don't like perl). the draft of the program of the first course is a mix of the ZCMG and the Zope Book (until part 2, chapter 1) with an addiction of a chapter on zope installation and how to interface (with apache.... IIS? well i need to find from my PC a volunteer for a windows installation :-)) ) and access it (web, ftp , webdav , Emacs). Now i'm using as source of material the ZCMG and the ZB and i'm looking at noa's zope presentation slides as a schematic introduction. I think to translate some parts of the english material to italian. Have you any suggestion of other sources suitable for a course ? thanks Alberto

tree structure

Hi, I am sending a variable say userid with it's value as hidden as the root of the tree to the next page where the code for the tree structure is written.The tree structure page displays the branches of root(this value had come as hidden by the name userid) but i can't expand further. It says Error value : userid (the variable which had come has hidden). To be clear i want to build a hierarchy of people taking Employee No as the id. please throw some light. Thanks, jacintha

Membership Product Failing under 2.3.0

Tables, Forms and DB querys oh my

Greetings, I'm kind of stuck on two related questions. I have a display table, of extracted data from one of my databases. I need my user to be able to select an item from that table with something like a radio button, so I can access just that item for deletion later on. The two problems: I can't for the life of me get a radio button from a form input to line up correctly with the table, my nesting tables in tables just isn't coming out correctly. The second problem is how to bind all of the info from each table row onto that row's radio button. I imagine I'll need to make a list of lists, but I don't know how to bind members of that list to the form's radio buttons once I get there.
